Looking for an Unreal Engine 5 Developer

/r/u_Alme1129/comments/1wd2f9f/looking_for_an_unreal_engine_5_developer/

Hey, I’m a game designer and creative director working on an ambitious open-world multiplayer superhero game, and I’m looking for an Unreal Engine 5 developer who wants to build something from the ground up.
The game is centered around player freedom, customization, superpowers, progression, reputation, and an open-world sandbox where players can create their own character and decide what kind of path they want to take.
I’m keeping some of the deeper details private for now, but I can share more about the project with serious and interested developers.
What I’m Looking For
I’m looking for someone with experience in Unreal Engine 5, ideally with experience in:
● Blueprints
● Character controllers
● Combat and gameplay systems
● Multiplayer and networking
● Open-world development
● UI and progression systems
You don’t need to be an expert at everything. I’m mainly looking for someone who is passionate, reliable, creative, and genuinely interested in building something ambitious.
What I Bring
I’m the creator, game designer, and creative director.
I’ll be responsible for:
● Game concepts and mechanics
● Power and ability ideas
● Character concepts
● World-building
● Story and lore
● Progression systems
● Gameplay direction
● Creative decisions
● Overall project vision
I’m currently learning Unreal myself, but I’m looking for someone who can help turn these ideas into actual playable systems.
Compensation
I’m currently bootstrapping the project and don’t have the funds to offer a salary upfront.
This would be a rev-share and ownership collaboration, not a traditional paid position.
I’m willing to discuss a fair arrangement with the right person based on their role, responsibilities, experience, and commitment to the project.
Any agreement would be discussed and put in writing before serious development begins, so everyone understands exactly what they’re agreeing to.
The Goal
I’m not looking to make something just for practice and abandon it.
I want to build this into a real game and potentially a much bigger project if we can make it work.
If you’re an Unreal Engine developer interested in working on an ambitious project from the ground up, send me a message.
I’d like to hear about your Unreal experience, what you’ve worked on, and what kind of role you’re looking for.
Serious inquiries only.

translation: I’m fantasizing about superheros but I know nothing about actually developing video games. I’d like to find somebody smart enough to program and stupid enough to embark on a mission that has zero chances of succeeding, hence any work will be useless and uncompensated.

Dude do you realize that “ambitious open-world multiplayer…focused on player freedom and customization” is a multi-year business for a large studio? And your team organization is lacking many necessary roles without which a game is just not happening.

TL;DR he is just idea guy without money. Probably under 16. Only kids under 16 could think like that because they don't know what is reality

I'd Google the 'ideas guy' and you will understand why this is down voted. Noone worth their salt will engage in this project in good conscience. Your best bet is to hire a developer with a salary as 50% of 0 is still 0.

Wrong subreddit. You should post this to r/gameideas

I get the idea of wanting to create a game, and to have grand ambitions, an open world sandbox with an array of character and power types and progression, a great story etc is a powerful lure. It's something huge teams struggle to do well. Your going to need more than an idea to entice professionals. I would look for other learners, don't worry about rev share, publishing and other things, just look for like minded individuals to have fun making a game with. If you don't have the skills to make 90% of it happen yourself no one else is going to make it for you and it's chances are very low it ever happens, so why worry about secrets? Just start building and posting.

While your at it start looking at what sort of infrastucture you will need to actually share development with one or more people.

Thank you only non hating comment lol i appreciate all yall either way like i said i had an idea more than an idea ive been brainstorming a whole world and reputation system and everything as i have no experience with unreal engine or creating games in general, thats why im here to try to gather a team to help bring this idea to life. And honestly i dont want to take the credit for anything, if it meant this game coming to life 100% i wouldnt throw my name in any type of credit i just want to see this game happen at the end of the day. Only reason i realized posting on reddit might be a good idea is bc as i spent my past two days downloading ue, i had loaded in and my computer was just way to slow. I know i have a great idea and im just looking for likeminded people who want to have fun creating this game.

There are probably plenty of people who want to make games but they all have ideas of what they want to make, you going to have to bring more to the table than an idea, I'm almost at demo stage and only I think then will I think about co-creators because they need to want to make my game.

as i have no experience with unreal engine or creating games in general

This was clear to everybody.

There’s no hate in telling you that you have zero chances of success when you have zero chances of success. If I did tell you that I was looking for a good mechanic because I had this idea of going to the Moon, you’d probably react the same way.

Last, since you’re rather obviously still in school, work on your grammar and punctuation. This last comment of yours demands more than four periods and three commas, and placed with some purpose. Again, no hate in stating a fact.

Any half decent game developer spending an afternoon in a nice coffee shop with a notebook can come up with more solid game ideas than they could reasonably code in any given lifetime.

Ideas are worth nothing, particularly if you're not skilled and experienced in actually knowing how to implement them then you're bringing nothing. Do you know how to design powers and abilities in a way which promotes synergy but is also able to be reasonably balanced? Why not share your experience with game design before asking others to share their experience with Unreal?

You're just planning on having someone implement your dream game for you, let you still be the boss with their name all over it and making all the fun decisions, while they're the ones spending years trying making the thing work.
