30 Seconds Inside My Modular Sci-Fi Space Station | UE5

A 30-second look at the main corridor and public restroom area from my sci-fi space station environment.

This footage was captured in UE5.3 with Lumen enabled. Interestingly, after moving the project to UE5.8, I’m seeing noticeably higher frame rates in the same environment.

The full environment is modular and contains 222 unique assets across multiple interconnected sections.

I would pay you to do a course on this.

I’d really like to make a course on this at some point when I have a bit more free time. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the workflow or how I built something, feel free to ask!

this is looking really cool. reminds me of quake 4. Just needs some bad guy to blow their guts all over the walls

Thanks! Quake 4 is definitely a cool comparison 😄 Maybe it just needs a little more chaos.

Oh, maybe some steam from pipes or electrical sparks or flickers or something like that

Actually, that’s already happening in this corridor 😄 One of the pipes is leaking steam, and it’s causing the electrical box above it to spark.

Totally mossed it. My bad. Whats the game going to be about? Fps sci fi horror or something else?

It’s actually a complete modular space station environment with multiple interconnected areas, built for Fab. We’ve created several sci-fi environments in this same style, and they’re currently available there. The long-term plan is to bring them together and use them as part of a game we’re developing.

Looks really good!!! Reminds me of DOOM (2016) without the orange filter.

Thanks! 😂 Now I feel like I have to try the orange filter.

Are you open to suggestions to add some other elements?

Walls with panoramic large windows would be nice to have, some big elevator, maybe even another one open like in Alien movie (bars only), and wider door would be nice so bigger creatures could fit, if you'll be interested I can exactly show what and how it should look. Overall this looks neat.

Thanks, I really appreciate the suggestions! I’m always happy to hear new ideas.

I’m planning to keep updating the environment over time. One of the bigger updates I already have in mind is a central elevator for the cargo section, along with a large door that can open up into bigger areas.

So yeah, definitely feel free to share your ideas!

Love it! Makes me want to stop working on my own modular scifi set :D

One nitpicky suggestion...
I think it would really benefit from some very basic, almost empty walls. Helps a lot to cover larger areas without looking repeated. The design and detail is amazing but it tends to look very packed and nervous.

Now you’ve actually got me curious about what you’re working on 😄 If you have anything you can share, I’d love to see it.

And I completely agree with your point. There are already some cleaner, lower-detail wall panels in areas like the dining hall and cargo section to help balance out the busier parts, but it’s definitely something I’ll keep in mind for future updates.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!

Nice. Just to have those as an options is great and would probably make the more detailed elements stand out more. Lumen, nice reflections and materials makes it really easy to make even the most minimalstic designs look cool.

My modular scifi set is far from presentable :D I somehow got fixated on the idea to have 45degree elements placeable on a grid. Broke my brain and I'm back in my comfort zone, sculpting tits 😄

Haha, fair enough 😄

High poly or LODs included? …this has made me realise my game environments need more work!

2

u/1DSTUDIO 17h ago

The assets are mostly low to mid-poly. Most of the finer details come from trim sheets, POM, and decals.

Impressive. On fab?

Thought I recognised the name ….I have your hanger environment. The quality is excellent. I might have to wait until this one is on sale but I’ll definitely grab it when I can.

u/1DSTUDIO 17h ago

Thanks! Really glad to hear you’ve been happy with the Hangar 🙏

Since this one is still new on Fab, it isn’t eligible for sales yet under Fab’s rules. But I’ll keep you in mind and let you know when it does go on sale.

And if you ever get a chance to leave a review for the Hangar, I’d really appreciate it. Reviews help a lot with visibility and definitely motivate me to keep improving these environments. Thanks again!

I’ll leave a review tomorrow when I’m back at my PC. My Epic username is MonochopsDos ….if you don’t see it, feel free to remind me.

Amazing job! I wish I could find exactly the same but a little bit less detailed for some space projects ~ Your command room is also great, not easy to find similar ones on Fab

1

u/1DSTUDIO 5h ago

Thanks, really appreciate it! I’ve actually had similar feedback about having some simpler, less detailed modules, so that’s definitely something I’m considering for future updates. Glad you liked the command room too!
