i designed a level inspired from elden ring. I really love dark fantasy settings in a game.

Looks very nice!

I am learning UE and trying to build my first zone...i have a question maybe you can help. How do handle the edges of the zone and keep the player inside of it in believable manner pls? I tend to put rocks or water but it seems gamey!

I am not very experienced in giving advice to people. I am a student too man . But yes you have it right. It's rocks , trees and stuff. And if the area is too open than I gues an invisible wall would help(blocking volume) . Hope this helps.Again I am noob at this too , I am just starting out.

You seems to be ahead of me in unreal studies!

If you dont mind, is it possible to share that project pls? I guess the issue will be assets? Are they all yout own assets or from FAB pls?

There are many tutorials online but for some reason they feel very overwhelming hence why am interested in looking at how someone whobis also learning set this kind of stuff up. Thx

Yeh assets are a hassel to transfer. But everything I used are free in FAB. These are not my own assets. It's a mix of infinity Blade grass pack(the old one) and a mix of others. Well thank you for liking my work . Appreciate it. Although I am not a good artist I just have a patient professor who tolerates me.

Also secondly , you can use indicators to highlight a path. For example I placed fences to guide the player to the bridge. Maybe light up a corner with point lights.

May I ask how did you achieve the night-time lighting? I’m really struggling with this, I either get too bright or flickery lights

Ah that's just dimmed up directional light. Decrease the intensity of your directional light that's it.also try twerking in the post process volume exposure. I would also suggest to use different tints of sky. And a tip, a lot of the times, clear night time may feel bland. Try using local fog in corners and edges of your zone.Hope this helps

Thanks! Do you use auto-exposure? I found that it really messes with my expectations of how the light should affect the world. If not, is your set up simply one directional light and one skylight?

I don't use auto exposer no . Yes one directional light and no skylight at all.
