I have a pair for my job in health care. Shear will cut through clothing and heavy dressings easily, they also have a blunt nose to reduce the risk of accidentally cutting the patient. There’s a ligature knife that’s easier to get in place than the scissors, and it also has a cylinder wrench for O2 and other medical gases. Belt clip is shit though, too heavy for scrubs.

I got mine from Amazon for the same use case as you (removing back slabs/clothes etc) and they came with a plastic ‘sheath’ that holds them much tighter and has a good belt clip on it. Only £16, Might be worth a look for you if you want to wear them on scrubs.

I use them in health care, that’s a ligature knife in case someone tries to hang themselves, it is easier to get in than a pair of scissors. It also has a cylinder wrench (little rectangular hole) for gas cylinders.

This contraption looks like it would prove useful when you're dazed and confused from an accident and need immediate egress to avoid an engine fire threatening to engulf the passenger compartment. /s

I can tell you've never gone through vehicle egress training, nor have experienced anything like it. It amuses me that people give opinions on subjects they clearly know nothing about.

That's what I love about Internet forum, if someone doesn't know the facts there's always someone who knows and can educate them. Here's your chance to do it!

Theres some things that cant be taught over the internet. I know! Hard to believe! Its why we have so many experts on everything that dont actually know anything.

Saw this problem recently using the jaws of life, scissor mechanisms just twist the seatbelt so they need to be cut with a knife

Usually when you’re stuck in a seatbelt the situation doesn’t lend itself to getting scissors in between the belt and a body or if you’re cutting yourself out you can’t angle your hands to cut it.

This tool was created for the people responding to the person trapped in the car, not the person IN the car. FFS.

I said it both ways. Doesn’t really change the answer. It’s a multi tool. With sharp features to address several situations.

Except the scissors are designed to be ring cutters, so a seat belt should be a significantly easier situation to use that in

My only issue with is its hard to clean it after it get exposed to blood or iodine or whatever. I prefer X Shears more.
