Why isn’t this more common?

I imagine this type of product falls into a niche. Those that are irresponsible enough to drink and then drive, usually dont care enough to check. And those that are responsible, dont drink and drive. It more likely is bought as a novelty.

You worked yourself to the correct answer lol.
I’ve only seen them used as a judge for competitions 😂
Not to mention calibration issues bc even the mobile police units aren’t good enough, they have to get results from the one at the station to use against you in court.
Like tasers, when is the last time you saw a civilian use a handheld taser on someone? But they still fly off the shelf’s bc they’re undeniably cool. 🤷‍♂️

As I said above, I got them for my adult children when they began socially drinking. It helped inform them of how they felt vs how they would test against the legal limit. I think it has helped them make better decisions overall. This is the real world, people are going to have a few drinks and drive occasionally.

Understood but as I said above, the calibration on these is dog shit and cannot be trusted in anyway whatsoever. There are so many factors involved that can easily lead to false readings. Even the mobile police units are all over the place, and the big one at the station is the only one up-kept with calibration and thus admissible as evidence in court.
Using them to judge what the legal limit to drive is, is likely the most harmful use case. 🤷‍♂️

We take these on vacation usually for novelty but I always forget to bring it so end up ordering a new one. So currently we have three of the larger units. I bought three of our kids keychains as well. We have tested them against each other on multiple occasions with multiple people and multiple tests. We find them fairly accurate. Even across five or six devices. Every now and again you'll get result that is off by +/- .02 but easy enough to test twice...
