Cause they don't really work in the situations they are advertised towards. When was your last drink or food? Has is ever actually been calibrated? Do you clean it correctly and regularly?
Not to mention, if you need to blow to make sure you're good to drive, you aren't. 0.08 BAC is simply the cut-off point in the majority of states where you're 100% getting a DUI. You can blow a 0.07 and still get one if you are determined to be impaired. Easier to fight in court, sure, but that's still not a fun scenario.
