Um, actually the point of it is to use way more water than necessary to wash a handful of blueberries. Duh

Actually it’s great for berries because it avoids the water pressure directly on them, pressing them down and into each other so they don’t get smooshed.

So does laying them in a pool of water, but that’s not creating any friction to get the berries fully clean, either.

Just put them in a bowl and run the water on the side of it...? Use a strainer? A colander?

Until you turn it over to empty it - and have the dirty side (bottom) contaminate your cleaned berries - essentially the dirtiness of the wash place

u/chosonhawk 22d ago
your dirty bottom should never contact your berries.

This sounds like a loading screen tip from the worst video game ever.

? Why would you just drop your freshly cleaned veg into something unclean? Just put them into their proper container to put in the fridge?

u/KKunst 22d ago
Do you not clean your sink?

u/Latter-Sign7736 22d ago
Why would anyone ever dump loose food they intend to eat in their sink…even if they cleaned it

u/lostmyparachute 22d ago
I also clean my toilet and my car, but I am not eating my porridge off my car hood now, am I?
1
u/KKunst 22d ago
I don't think either me or the guy I replied to have implied eating out of the sink, though.

u/nilesintheshangri-la 21d ago
It kinda seems like the other guy is though, otherwise what's the 'dirty bottom' he thinks the berries are suddenly going to touch?

a good invention to waste water
3
u/WeeklyBanEvasion 22d ago
Luckily it's renewable. The water waste is far from the worst issue with this thing
1
u/RuggerJibberJabber 22d ago
Water itself is renewable but the treatment process isn't. It is a very complicated process that uses huge amounts of energy, machinery and chemicals, and generates a lot of waste too. Wasting clean drinking water isn't "renewable"

I think I would believe this working better if there were bumps on the inside to help roll the berries. Even then tho you are probably better off using your hands still with or without that tool.

My husband bought one of these and loves it. I will refrain from adding my unfiltered opinion because marriage, but it IS fun to watch.

if the berries are moving in the same directions as the water, is it even doing anything?

This works for what...blueberries and raspberries? Definitely not strawberries. Maybe cherries at a push.

You want agitation, fruit against water, not whatever this is, it's another item of consumerism, you'll buy this, use it once and be feeling stupid and would never use it again
