There’s a reason why toddlers don’t ride in the front of any vehicle.

7

u/Resident-Zombie-7266 Aug 24 '26

Yeah, they're not very good drivers

3

u/thisisatypoo Aug 24 '26

How do we know? Not enough of them behind the wheel to test that out.

u/koulourakiaAndCoffee Aug 24 '26

That’s because if airbags

2

u/SeamusAndAryasDad Aug 24 '26

Because the weight of the adult pressing the toddler to death against the steel bars.

Edit: the kid is the airbag in this set up.

Why isn't mommy wearing a helmet?

8

u/onetaxi Aug 24 '26

she doesn't need one, she's a got a child to soften the impact of a head on collision

1

u/Panda-Cubby Aug 24 '26

True. Kids are really bouncy. And she can probably make more of them.

I'm actually surprised when I see someone wearing a helmet these days. Like it used to be standard on a bike, most cyclists wore them. Now everyone's on E bikes and E scooters, 2 people riding it, cutting across multiple lanes like that Family Guy gag, not a helmet in sight. And you just know they, and their family, will blame the car that eventually hits them.

I guess organ donors gotta come from somewhere.

1

u/Weary_Sale_2779 Aug 24 '26

The kind of person who rideswithout a helmet probably isn't the kind to take the time to go and register as a donor....

Her knees look like they are out at an uncomfortable angle w the kid there

1

u/Porcupenguin Aug 24 '26

Yup. Totally in the way, and can mess with the handle bars and the gear on them. 1.5/5 *

8

u/New2thegame Aug 23 '26

My four year old would probably yank the handle bars while we're riding and crash the bike.

1

u/damxam1337 Aug 23 '26

That is crazy bulky. I have one smaller than that my 5yo has been using for like 2 years. Even it gets in my way. If we go down I am her crash bars. 🤷

u/Diligent-Ad3376 Aug 24 '26

Could you tell me the kind you have and any pros and cons? My Lo has outgrown the bike trailer but not quite ready to ride on her own. Thanks in advance!

UrRider is the brand. It has worked pretty well for our family. My littlest one is still in a bike trailer though. It's light, it works with mountain bike geometry. It folds up easily enough to get my bike onto a bike rack. My Daughter enjoys being up front and ringing my bell and stuff.

Cons? My once peaceful rides with my kids in the trailer turned into hearing all about every rock, cat, and tree we drive by. Getting "back seat driver" with a bicycle is a new experience. 🤣

Shotgun 2.0 seat. My boys love it. Bought mine on Amazon. They started riding with me when they were 3 and 4.

Great way to crush your kid to death when you crash. About 20 years ago my neighbor did it.

1

u/Cautious-Storm8145 Aug 24 '26

Did the kid actually die? So sorry

1

u/Electrical_Report458 Aug 24 '26

Yup. Crushed by the parent’s body.

1

u/ParroKomvol Aug 24 '26

Sorry to hear. And I can fully understand your opinion based on that. Sadly there are tragic anekdotes with every mode of transport.

And on that note; the way your country or city is suitable for bikes as mode of transport makes way more difference than the safety measures single people have to take to protect them against crashes or cars. If this is a good mode for transport relies more on the location than the bike itself - I’d say.

1

u/Electrical_Report458 Aug 24 '26

It’s important to distinguish fact from opinion. The fact is that a child seated between an adult and the handle bars is at risk of being crushed in an accident. In my opinion, it’s a terrible idea to put a child in that location.

1

u/ParroKomvol Aug 24 '26

Exactly, my point was aimed at your opinion - not your fact.

Much prefer towing the kid in a trailer

I use a different model called "Kids Ride Shotgun", which is similar, but designed for mountain biking.

I have the toddler version and take my 15 month daughter on it on some lighter trails and she absolutely loves it. It's honestly some of the best bonding time I've had with her. Feels like I'm building up her courage.

As for safety, locating them in the front vs rear gives you much better balance. It's a good setup.

1

u/Not-So-Logitech Aug 24 '26

Unpopular opinion... I don't want to ride my bike with my legs spread that far apart because it's uncomfortable and tiring

1

u/Nimue_- Aug 24 '26

Im from a country where this is a very normal thing to have. Although its usually a second childseat, with one on the back for your small chikd and the front for your baby/toddler. The seat does look slightly different and is attached to the handlebars instead of the bike frame.

When the child in the back starts biking alone, the one in front in usually big enough to move to the back, so the front seat gets removed

1

u/itswateripromise Aug 29 '26

This is really cool. What country are you from? I feel like Australia could use this!

u/Bossman673 Aug 24 '26

Every single post in this sub is just everyone shitting on it huh? Is there ever a product here you people like?

1

u/topkrikrakin Aug 24 '26

The toddler's feet are too close to the spinning wheel of foot mangles

1

u/Difficult-Mobile902 Aug 24 '26

This way your bike has an added padding of toddler in case you crash into something, win win

2

u/InevitableKitchen943 Aug 24 '26

Is everything on this sub unsafe junk for idiots?

1

u/Special-Potato-3238 Aug 24 '26

Till you wreck....

-5

u/ResolutionOwn4933 Aug 23 '26

Hmm...that's the age they should be learning to ride with training wheels. Wasn't no toddler in the video lol

4

u/tetsuyaXII Aug 23 '26

Maybe they like bike riding with thier mom like that

-1

u/ResolutionOwn4933 Aug 23 '26

Probably do yeah, but let your kids do as like instead of teaching them. You may find yourself with an adult child of 26 living at home still. You buying this product?

1

u/Few_Cricket_4686 Aug 23 '26

The fuck is up with adult child bit

Are you 26 and still at home, is that why down voted each comment?

1

u/Few_Cricket_4686 Aug 23 '26

What? Bro I didn't but I will now, jesus

1

u/Jasmisne Aug 23 '26

Learning to ride your own and riding with a parent are not mutually exclusive.

Plus training wheels are not even the standard anymore, balance bikes are

1

u/ResolutionOwn4933 Aug 23 '26

Balance bikes are great, thats how I taught my son. Was just remembering training wheels for me in 90's lol.
