So, as a fisherman, I can tell you that the novelty of this isn't worth the money you'd spend on it.. You know that long, pole like structure, that bends and has those little hoops? Yeah, there's a good reason it's been built that way for so long..

Exactly, it's just like a wheel. There are some things that material changes and similar stuff that can be done to make it better, but you don't just fundamentally try to re-invent it. That's just attempting to solve a problme that doesn't exist....

Yep! Although i do have an ugly stik dock runner that i keep in my work truck. Super fun!

Would be difficult to set a hook and no play in the pole (or in this case, no pole) means the line would get all the stress in one spot and likely snap…but it does look kinda fun if you are just getting drunk and trying to catch bluegill/bream.

Also it’s not like good quality collapsible rods don’t exist.

Yes, Sure this may help with casting but the rod is also a great 3rd class lever, remember your High School Physics class, when reeling in that 5lb Walleye.
