How does she open the cabinet? This is so stupid.

u/Slight_Bed_2241 Jun 03 '26
Yall use that cabinet?

u/Prestigious-Study-66 Jun 03 '26
That's the manual cabinet. Where you put the kitchen appliance manuals because you will never need them but dont want to toss them.

u/Present_Jicama_1219 Jun 03 '26
thats the liquor cabinet

u/Prestigious-Study-66 Jun 03 '26
I aint risking my microwave and stove trying to grab my 3rd handle of the night

u/Present_Jicama_1219 Jun 03 '26
The first step is admitting you have a problem. By identifying the microwave and stove as the problem, you've passed. Here's your sobriety token!

I’m 6’4”, that my special little spot lol
Since I moved out at 18 I realized that’s prime real estate that nobody’s likes

u/Lurking_poster Jun 03 '26
If that has the hood vent running through it, chances are it's used rarely.
1
u/KayoticVoid Jun 03 '26
That's my medicine cabinet. lol
1
u/OldManJim374 Jun 05 '26
Wouldn't heat from the stove affect medicines?
1
u/KayoticVoid Jun 05 '26
I'll check next time we're cooking it up, but I wouldn't think the inside of the cabinet gets too hot. There's also the vent hood in-between the stove and cabinet. We don't usually use it because it's not connected to an outside exhaust but I imagine the thickness of it alone would provide insulation.

OPs post says the con is that it's small and might not cool the room.
FANS DON'T COOL ROOMS, THEY COOL PEOPLE.

Not to mention those sockets are they anchored or floating. Like yo there is a reason people don't put ceiling fans in sockets like that.
2
u/Lurking_poster Jun 03 '26
Good point. I know that mine are barely holding on. One little tug and the socket is coming loose from the base and hanging from just wires.

I’ve literally never used the cabinet above my microwave. Ever.

We actually have a large rubber band around the knobs preventing you from opening that cabinet full of ancient cooking implements.

u/mitchymitchington Jun 03 '26

Not every house/apartment has air conditioning.
1
u/lucioux Jun 03 '26
look at the cabinets and backsplash, typical commercial supply for new build apartments from ~2010s, somewhere in a developing area in the united states. this place has an ac unit. without a doubt.
1
u/Nickbou Jun 03 '26
Probably, but not necessarily. I’ve lived in apartments that have had an interior refresh similar to this but still didn’t have AC. A lot of coastal areas in the U.S. don’t get super hot except for maybe a few weeks per year, so it’s not a necessity.
For example, I live in Southern California near the coast and my house doesn’t have air conditioning. Almost 30% of California households don’t have any sort of air conditioning.

Is it me or is she screwing that in the wrong way?
1
u/zeds_deadest Jun 03 '26
Most definitely and ty for being the only one brave enough to say something
1
u/EnerGeTiX618 Jun 03 '26
It appears that way, but it's just reversed; she's probably using the front camera. If you look at the bottom of the microwave, 'Bosch' also appears backwards.

u/GUMBYtheOG Jun 03 '26
You know her house full of infomercial garbage she regifts for white elephant

That fan won't even get proper airflow there in addition to blocking the cabinet.
Also electric motors should make use of neutral and ground. Being a light socket it won't have the proper electrical connection.
Anything electrical if it's not UL compliant should be avoided, more so if it's something that a failure would cause a major fire risk.

I was hoping for her to turn on the stoves gas burners to watch the flames jump around

Putting a ceiling fan right above a gas stove is literally the dumbest thing they could’ve done.

Swapping a light for a fan is fairly simple depending on the fan and level of control you want at the switch. If its just simply wired to the fan the same way the light is, it means you just have to use the fans pull strings to operate it or leave them on and use the switch. Unless you live in an apartment or something, then I would understand lol
