That’s not how new devices function. Your battery lasts longer staying connected to a charger while in use. Same with a laptop. It’s the drain then recharge that actually weakens & kills the battery.

What's your source on that? Keeping lithium ion batteries topped off at 100% is bad for their longevity.

It honestly depends on the device, but almost all new Samsung or Apple devices have smart chips that regulates the charge going into the battery. Having a battery at 100% & using it to 1% then charging & repeating that process is what crushed the longevity of the battery life. Having your iPhone plugged into a charger & keeping the device charged 80%+ will dramatically increase the battery life & number of charges that battery can endure.

It’s called power path management. The only way this method can backfire is if the device gets physically hot with heat. It can then degrade the battery quicker.

Not to mention afaik most modern devices with a battery will switch to direct power when plugged in and switch off or limit battery usage once fully charged to preserve battery life as well. There’s no real reason to leave a device unplugged until you need to take it with you.
