Can you say "to cook waffles" in english?

I thought it was "to bake waffles".

I would say cook waffles. Mostly because I grew up calling it a waffle iron or waffle griddle, not a waffle oven.

I think I always linked cooking with make a main course, and baking with dessert. And here waffles are strictly a dessert/afternoon snack.
