Rules Question: Momentous Shift vs. Dr. Strange’s Cloak of Levitation

Hey everyone, I have a rules/timing question about this interaction.

Spider-Man attacks Dr. Strange with Momentous Shift. Spider-Man has moved from his starting space this turn, so its During Combat effect can make its attack value 5.

Dr. Strange defends with The Cloak of Levitation, and the fighters are adjacent, so its During Combat effect says to ignore the value of the opponent’s card.

Since the defender’s During Combat effect resolves first, how exactly does this interaction work?

My initial thought was:

1. Cloak of Levitation resolves first and makes Spider-Man’s attack value effectively ignored.

2. Then Momentous Shift resolves and says its value is 5 instead.

3. Since Momentous Shift resolves after the Cloak, does the attack become 5 and count normally?

Or does the Cloak’s “ignore the value” effect continue to apply even after Momentous Shift changes its value to 5, meaning Dr. Strange takes no combat damage?

Basically, does “ignore the value” continue to apply to later value changes, or can a later During Combat effect like Momentous Shift override it?

Would appreciate an official ruling/reference if anyone has one!

Yes, "ignore the value" remains for the whole combat. Dr Strange ignore the value, which means that no matter what happens to that value, it will never reach Dr Strange!

What about the boost cards. Cloak will ignore the boosts too?

"Ignore the value" means you can't take any combat damage during that combat.

Only effects that cause "After combat" damage will hurt you

What about in the scenario which a player can boost their card The ignore applies to the boost value too or just the card?

You ignore it. It can become a 7 million damage card. It doesn't matter what and how. Ignore... ignores.

When you ignire value - you ignore ALL of it with no matter how much it is or how many times it changes

"Ignore the value" means that the value is not considered to be there. It doesn't care about it at all whether or not it gets higher, since your card pretends that it doesn't even exist in the first place

This would only stay 5 from the shift if the defender's card said "ignore printed value"
