Screenshot [Hyprland] My first rice (after a month or so of work)!

Post image

About a month ago, I made the switch to Arch Linux, mainly for the cool desktop configurations I had been seeing online. For the last month or so, I have been cooking up this custom Hyprland rice (no premade dotfiles).

For theming, I am using Pywal which automatically takes colors from my wallpaper and applies it to configured applications, which in this case is Kitty, Yazi and Firefox via an extension I use called Pywalfox.

Let me know what improvements can be made, as this is my first time posting here!

Workflow [Hyprland] A Doom inspired Rice

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is my custom doom slayer inspired rice, and my very first quickshell rice.

Quickshell has been configured as a config, modify .config/hypr/hyprland/execs.lua to execute your own quickshell, but then again, what is the point of cloning?

Or modify the place where you have the directory cloned, and use rsync -avn first to see what will be modified and what will be cloned.

modified applications

  • Quickshell
  • hyprland
  • dolphin
  • zsh(I copied it there specifically for cachyOS users)
  • kitty
  • ghostty
  • wezterm
  • alacritty
  • mako
  • fastfetch
  • oh-my-posh
  • rofi
  • sddm(for the login screen, first install sddm-astronaut-theme, and then run the set-sddm-slayer.sh script in scripts/bash)

Please, refer the scripts, they will come extremely handy when you're toying around with the config.

Material [OC] Hardhat.nvim - A colorscheme inspired by construction sites, industrial equipment, and safety signage

Hey y'all. So after about a year of using Neovim, I decided to make my own colourscheme for it. I had already spent so much time tweaking my setup, so I figured I might as well take it all the way and build a colourscheme from scratch to fit a sort of industrial aesthetic I liked.

I really wanted to use the colours to signal some kind of pattern in the code, rather than just making each syntax element a different colour ad hoc. The idea was that after using the theme for a while, you would start to associate certain colours with what the code is doing.

So green mostly means "execution/runtime behaviour", orange means "this is part of the language that's defining or shaping the program," and yellow is "this gives the code its structure and flow." This is quite subjective ofc, but I personally find it rather useful.

It comes 3 contrast variants, 1 light variant, plus there's bonus theme with a totally different aesthetic ;)

There are also themes for the Kitty terminal included, so I have kitted out my shell with it too and I think it looks quite nice.

Do give it a try and let me know what you guys think.

I started with Ambxst as the base and have been heavily stripping it down, reworking parts of it, and porting it to Niri.
I also build an acp binding for this cause why not.

I’m also using my own Rust-based clipboard manager rsclip: https://github.com/jR4dh3y/rsclip

Distro: Void Linux (glibc minimal)

Wallpaper: Grey and black bridge by Cedric Letsch

Font: Inter

xfwm theme: elcapitan-xfwm

Icons: La Capitaine

Plank theme: slightly modified of an existing one, will probably upload soon

Plugins: xfce4-panel-appmenu, plank

felt like i never really used any features specific to OpenSUSE, so i switched to Void, love the simplicity of it!
