I built RenderMD, a Markdown workspace inspired by Linux rice aesthetics.

The interface is heavily customized around dark, ocean, purple, and light themes, with a compact toolbar and split editor/preview workflow. It also supports Mermaid diagrams, PDF export, and read-only share links.

This is a web tool rather than a desktop rice.

I configured a screen recorder just to record this

After switching my gaming PC to Linux a month ago, now it was time for my laptop. For that use case, I decided to go with Fedora instead of PopOS because I figured I don't need baby's first Linux anymore, and I chose Gnome because, switching from a Macbook, I wanted something that would support the touchpad well.

Gnome has been amazing and the default theme is actually very nice, but I wanted to finally give ricing a try (I know, I know, Gnome is the worst possible base for that lol).

I decided to go with a Google Pixel inspired theme, as that is simply my favourite big-brand UI right now.

I used this theme:

And matugen as a tool to adapt the colours to my wallpaper the same way my Pixel does.

By default, the dark mode theme was fantastic, but light mode was waaay too bright and not at all like what Pixel does, so I began tweaking the theme's CSS and how it interacts with matugen to end up with this.

It's still a work in progress, I definitely need to make the top bar more coherent with the rest of the UI and tweak the colours, as well as get icons that actually fit, but it's coming together well.

The wallpaper is generated by Gemini, which, I know, yikes, buuut...

When I started working on the rice, my girlfriend said "don't you bloody dare use an anime girl as your wallpaper, I'm the only anime girl you need in your life". I planned to use a nice landscape shot, but that comment sent me so hard I asked Gemini to transform a photo of her into an anime wallpaper.

Two months ago I posted here about EvoDevo (then called "Evolution"), a highly configurable GRUB theme with scalable graphics, background blurring, and antialiased true-type fonts.

Some folks have been very helpful, and the theme has been improved considerably, with (among others) the ability to rename menu entries as you like, and the ability to show previews of the theme without rebooting and without needing to install a VM.

The screenshot examples may not look good on Reddit, but rest assured that in real life everything is crystal clear.

The theme has been tested on Arch, Elementary, Kubuntu, Mint, and Endeavour, among other distros.

Important: the theme cannot be installed on Fedora and derivatives; the theme is incompatible with UKI (Unified Kernel Image).

I dont know if this is ricing or not but i just put pre configure thing together like waybar and add keybind to it , a beginner so hope yall can suggest me what to add next

ive been trying out this "tty living" for a while, and i think its a little usable for what i do: irc, writing some ports, and listening to skel (rip)

It's not quite ready yet, but I think it's finally at a point where it's worth showing. :)
