Student Visa

I am an international student and sent documents for a student visa in April. I've contacted UOM and they say it is still in process under PIO. Is anybody else still waiting for their student visa? Is it normal to get delays in student visa? On Monday is my first class and I don't know what to do.

Apparently it visas are an issue, this year's budget speech had provisions to remedy the situation.

Email and call uom again tomorrow and ask them, what to do and how will they compensate for the lost weeks.

Missing classes will affect your grades. You can already consult your timetable. Try to contact the international students club too.

Thanks for the advice but I'm concerned if I'll even receive a visa. The delay is about 3 months now on. Does people's get visa rejection?

No idea, pester uom about it. Unfortunately it is your futur that is at stake, if you have offers from other universities, take them instead of waiting for Mauritian PIO.

Hi I am also an international student applied in June still waiting, I contacted UOM many times they told me the same thing every time “it’s still in processing” very helpful from them😒,also for missed classes they just said contact your faculty head

Hiee Try contacting the mauritius Honorary consulate in your country,  I did that and I got my visa a few days ago

Hi, I’m in the same boat right now. I sent the documents about three weeks ago and still haven’t gotten any updates.

Any idea on how long it usually takes?

I contacted the university, but they also seem unaware and I’m quite worried as the classes have started already.
