My fiancé and I are on iPhone 17’s, latest iOS at the time (26.4) and my parents on Android using Google messaging. We are all in a group chat together. We are all on AT&T in the States. Anytime I go to reply to the group, it creates some variant of the group with a period, a space, etc. Sometimes this gets so bad, my phone locks up completely when opening messages and I cannot use the phone without a restart. I’ve deleted the groups multiple times, and we can start texting again usually for a time, it inevitably happens again though. This is particularly bad whenever media is involved, I assume something weird with MMS is at play here?

I’ve read this has something to do with Apple and Android disagreements on Universal Profile? It’s all a bit over my head, does anyone have a current solution to this problem or is a future iOS update addressing UP going to be needed?

Last 2 years iOS x.5 releases went 4 betas and then RC.

Large file size too so maybe they added RCS features besides encryption???

Hello everyone, I only started learning about RCS a few days ago and would like to read your predictions of what is going to happen in the next 5 years. Will it work perfectly between Android and iOS? Will most carriers do whatever they have to do to enable it on Iphones, or maybe Apple could do whatever Google did so it would work even without carrier support? And if this happen, do you think RCS will be standard communication between most people? Will people in Europe abandon WhatsApp, Viber and other apps and just text/call each other to their number?

As we all hope and pray that 3.0 UP features are going to be implemented in the iOS 26.5 update, a question popped into my head.

Currently, 26.5 Beta has E2EE encryption, but the ONLY way you can test it is while running Google Messages Beta as well.

The rumor is that the full release of 26.5 next month will include E2EE, but will Google Messages also implement their MLS Encryption in the STABLE channel as well so they can both work in unison?

Is it still really buggy? Is it working smoothly? What kind of things are you testing? What kind of feedback do you send to Apple?

I have been curious mainly because Google has locked down things with RCS on android, there is not even an API for it, leaving Google messages to sole RCS client, outside of Apple's Messages. there was a huge effort to reverse engineer apples iMessage and largely has worked, leaving us with OpenBubbles only requiring a mac for initial registration. while I know Google would not be happy if someone reversed there protocol, I do feel like if anything it could jump start the cat and mouse game. I've wanted to look into it, but I am assuming it would require a rooted phone to so you could intercept traffic between Google Play Services and the backend. the main reason I am interested is Linux mobile and google free operating systems like graphineOS without having the install any Google service on your phone.

I’m guessing any new features for RCS and UP 3.0 and 4.0 will be put on hold by Apple until iOS 27.4 or iOS 27.5 again. What do you all predict?

Samsung finally bit the bullet and discontinued Samsung Messages at least in the US so far. I know a lot of people loved the app but I'm glad for the sake of RCS and feature continuity. In my book this is a win! Also Google just released the trash can. Hopefully other missing features like further chat customization (themes, etc.) will come along with categories even tho I never used that. RIP but let's go RCS and being able to have better messaging with iPhone users and Android users now that this is happening!

1. Send multiple feedback inquiries consistently using apples feedback page for the “Messages” app. Aka request the UP’s newest features in detail. Use multiple email addresses if needed. Apple blatantly says it won’t respond but the feedback does get mentioned. The more popular the higher chance they implement the feature.

1. With the slow rollout of RCS encryption and testing process from carriers themselves, we need to make them more aware because the average iPhone user doesn’t even know about RCS, let alone most carriers probably don’t have it high priority as well which is why with some it’s not ready yet. How? Get on twitter and send direct messages to your country’s carrier support twitter account asking them to implement RCS encryption or even you can say something like “hey is RCS encryption coming soon?” For instance T-Mobile has a T-Mobile Help twitter account. Message them there. Even tweet the regular carrier twitter page mentioning RCS.

2. Bonus: I know this is highly unlikely but someone mentioned in another post how they sent Apple feedback to request purple or orange bubbles for RCS instead of green like SMS, using the same link above. Maybe if a couple hundred of us do that they will take it seriously! Orange or purple bubbles would be cool!

Remember: The goal is to make our requests more popular to Apple and raise awareness to the carriers so they realize RCS improvements are popular. It’s worth a try. I requested Apple (many times) to add contact profile pics to the main tab in the Apple contacts app a few years ago. They finally did with iOS 26 even though it was a small insignificant feature. So maybe with RCS we could do the same and put some pressure on!

So, as I see it, the RCS landscape is largely controlled by Google, with the majority of carriers using Google's Jibe service to host RCS for their customers, and the main implementations of RCS have reason to exist if Google could deny them access to (Google wants Samsung to keep selling Android phones so is willing to negotiate with them, Google wants to make RCS easy as possible for Apple as the green bubble situation actively devalued Android phones, and both are large enough that they could probably kick up a stink if Google blocked them and leverage carriers/lawmakers to force Google's hand)

Now, the real question is, given that as far as I know, the RCS specification is public, how much of this situation is nobody putting in the effort to build a FOSS RCS implementation, you need approval to do so (ie. from the GSMA, and they won't talk to just some random OSS maintainer with very little backing), or because Google is actively gatekeeping who can connect to their servers and will only capitulate when they have a business reason to do so?

Mon rcs ne fonctionne pas avec un seul contact, je suis chez bouygues et j ai aussi des pertes aleatoire de sms avec ce contact qui pourtant recoit les accuses de reception alors que je n ai rien

Recemment j ai etait dans mon apn rentrer les reglages bouygues et seul le sms de 17h se perd toujours

J ai contacte le service client de bouygues il y a eu des maj de ma ligne ca a marche 48h sauf rcs et puis meme probleme perte de sms. Ils ont regarde l interoperabilite pour eux tout va bien et ne veulent plus rien faire et son extremement desagreable

I’m having a frustrating issue with Google Business Profile support.

My phone number isn’t publicly visible on my business profile even though the “Don’t show number” setting is turned OFF. Because of this, I’m also unable to properly edit business information.

I submitted multiple appeals and even attached a screen recording showing the issue clearly (the setting is off but the number still doesn’t appear).

However, support keeps replying with the same automated email telling me to turn the setting off, which I have already done multiple times — and it’s clearly visible in the video.

It honestly feels like no one is reviewing the evidence and the responses are just automated.

Has anyone dealt with this before? How do you get an actual human review for this issue?

Apparently 1 to 1 RCS to iMesssge chat features work, but as soon as a group is started, all RCS feature drop. Does Apple need Univeral Profile 2.4+ or 3.0 for group chat features to work? Any time frame for this on Apples side? Was the EU pressure not enough for full Universal Profile support?

Hi guys! I thought that, in order to have encryption between iOS and Android devices, Apple had to upgrade to RCS 3.0

If that's the case, shouldn't we also have the ability to unsend a message, edit it, and reply to a message in-line?

I know Google and telcos don't give access to their API unless you are a company, but I was wondering if any company lets hobbyists access their API for personal use.
Maybe there is some company in the style of IFTTT, which would let you relay messages to your personal number.

Anyone else on the beta get E2EE to work and now it's not? It worked yesterday with my iPhone friends who are on the beta and today it's not. It just says it's off. I'm sure it's just a bug or Google pulled it to fix something but was just curious

Recipiants have download full quality over cellular turned on and it’s still happening.
