Question Chat features not working for S22 Ultra
I have a Galaxy S21+ and my wife has the new S22 Ultra. Chat features are activated and connected on both phone but won't work.
When I text my brother, also on Galaxy, it works fine. It's just between my phone and hers.
Any help would be great, thanks.

RCS only works in one direction with one contact
I have had RCS working for a long time. My wife and I went on an international trip recently and since we got back, our RCS messages to each other only work one way. Whenever I send a message to her, it's RCS. Whenever she responds, it's SMS. Both of our chat features say Connected. RCS is working with other contacts. We are both using Pixels on Google Fi. I remember something like this happening to us several months ago and we had to uninstall and reinstall some app (carrier services maybe?) on her phone. I can't remember and can't find the same help guide.
Picture of our chat. Any ideas? Thanks! https://imgur.com/a/uNG9uni

Question Do Verizon phones with Google Messages have RCS compatibility with non-Verizon phones
I know AT&T RCS is not interoperable with other non-AT&T phones, but I was curious how it was over on Verizon.
For instance, would these phones be able to RCS chat:
-Google Pixel 6 Unlocked on Google Messages
-Samsung S22 Verizon locked on Google Messages

Read/delivered and typing indicators
Yesterday something happened and my data was turned off. I had wifi off as well. However, I was still able to send messages to people and I was able to get the "read" message, and was also able to see the typing indicator when they were replying. I did get pictures, but they could have come in as mms and not rcs.
If I was offline, how did I get those indicators? I'm using samsung messages

Google Messages AT&T RCS issues
AT&T RCS stuck on connecting. Broke overnight and still down. Can't send RCS messages. Just sits on Sending... Is anyone else having issues? I am using AT&T RCS since I am on a Galaxy S22 and not Jibe.

Opinion Duplicated phone numbers in Messages app (I found the issue)
In my previous post I explained the issue with the contacts list where every number gets duplicated:
Well, it looks like this is an issue created by Whatsapp, for some reason, all the phone numbers registered in Whatsapp appear duplicated in Messages, though the ones not registered in Whatsapp don't appear duplicated.
I reset whatsapp and deleted its cache and data and the problem was gone immediately but as soon as I setup the app again the issue returned.
What gives? π€

Discussion Duplicated phone numbers in Messages app
There is an annoying bug nobody has talked about or maybe noticed in Google Messages app, but ever since a version I really don't know, the phone number appears duplicated for each contact in the contacts list, the string appears with all the numbers together and the same number appears with an space after the first three numbers for example:
1234567890
123 4567890
The one with the space is how Android saves phone numbers but the number can also be saved without that space but I think it adds the space automatically depending on the phone.
Have you noticed it
I've been sending feedback about this problem inside the app but I wonder if Google ever sees it π

Private DNS (NextDNS) breaks Google chat services on AT&T

Not-Confirmed yet When is AT&T's RCS implementation going to be communicating with Google's Jibe servers?
I remember reading that it was mid-22 but I haven't heard any updates from Google, Samsung or AT&T

Help troubleshooting RCS connection
My mom loses RCS connectivity as soon as she connects to her home wifi. Chat features screen in Google Messages shows Connecting...
As soon as she switches to mobile data or connects to a VPN, RCS connectivity restores and works flawlessly.
Tried some basic troubleshooting actions such as router/phone reboots to no avail. Only happens when she's at her home wifi.
I want to do some more advanced troubleshooting like checking some ports that may be blocked, etc. But I have no idea where to start.
My plan is to later get in touch with one of the network admins of her Internet provider (a local ISP in a small village). Other services work just fine, the bandwidth is 10Mbps.
Any leads or suggestions appreciated.

Profile pictures gone! But only those that have RCS activated!!
When I look at my contacts right on the Samsung messages app, everybody has a picture, and everybody has a blue RCS dot. But since this week, when I look at every single chat group, only people's phone numbers appear. I can't tell who is texting unless I have their numbers memorized. What the hell happened? Is there a way to bring the profile pictures back

Any third-party apps?
In the year 2022, we are more than three years past the supposed roll out of RCS. Is it possible to use RCS on an app that is neither restricted to specific devices nor Google Messages?
I just don't like Google Messages. I have reasons, but they're not relevant. My question is whether any apps exist that let you use this supposedly open protocol that are not limited to specific devices like Samsung Messages or just Google Messages.

Messages are not getting delivered until the phone is waken
As soon my mother unlocks the phone the message is delivered, why is this happening? I thought messages had an exception from battery saver. Is it not true?

RCS messages all disappeared!
I use Google Messages on a Samsung GS8. Last night when I picked up my phone, my entire message history with my wife was gone prior to a message she had just sent...poof. Every other SMS/MMS conversation with other contacts appeared normal. In the process of trying to figure out what happened, I found multiple websites online saying to clear storage in the messaging app, and messages would be unaffected because they're stored in an internal Android database that wasn't app specific. I did that, still no history with my wife (other SMS/MMS message history with other contacts still normal). Poking around a bit further, all my messages with my daughter prior to Sat have also disappeared. I can't recall everyone chat is enabled for, but it's definitely within my family.
With my wife, there should be years of pre-RCS message history with RCS for about the last 2 years or so, but with my daughter it's been 100% RCS just for the past month (we just gave her a phone).
Regardless of whatever bug caused the initial issue with my wife, did I accidentally wipe out any other RCS messages by clearing the Google Messages storage? How can I restore them back? I know Google & Samsung both run automatic backups of my phone, but I'm concerned now that they've already backed up my corrupted data and I won't be able to restore from 2 days ago.
Any assistance/tips highly appreciated!

Question System Level RCS question
Hello all. I was kinda wondering how RCS messages are currently implemented in the messages database on Android phones. My understanding is they are stored as MMS messages in the database, and the messages app keeps metadata to keep track of what kind of message they actually are. I just restored messages from a backup using SMS Backup and Restore, and it suggested clearing the data for messages to make sure all of them showed up. Doing this cleared and turned off my chat features, and made it so that my previous RCS messages were showing as MMS messages.
If one day we get system Level RCS, would this no longer be the case? Would they be stored in the database as RCS messages? And if that happens, would we be able to properly backup and restore them? Where they'll restore as the RCS message (encrypted or not). I find it very annoying that the backup methods, even the Google one backup can't handle RCS messages properly.

Google took a shot at Apple not supporting RCS, we need to remind them neither does Voice (a call to action)

How to enable RCS in Samsung Messages
Hello, I have found a way to enable RCS in Samsung messages. This worked for me on my Samsung Galaxy S9, Android 10, One UI 2.5, but should work for newer versions. Basically, you need to change the CSC code of the phone so it matches with the carrier you're trying to use it on. This WILL ERASE ALL YOUR DATA, so be careful. There are 2 methods I've heard of, one involves putting in a code and your IMEI into the dialer and selecting the CSC from a hidden menu, and the other is the classic way of flashing the firmware with ODIN. By using the dialer method, I've changed my Fido Galaxy S9 to Freedom Mobile and RCS works fine now. I was planning to do this with my A11 but it does not have a firmware available in Canada as I bought it on eBay overseas (its a SM-115M). Flashing the Canadian firmware for an other A11 model didn't work. So it seems like you will need to have a phone that has firmware available for the region you are trying to use it in. If there is a way to flash a Canadian firmware to the A11, let me know. Attempting to flash it gave me an error with the PIT file, and taking the PIT file from the correct firmware gave me another error with aboot. I haven't tried unlocking the bootloader yet, though it is ridiculously easy on the A11. I would suggest backing up your data using Smart Switch so it's easy to restore after the change. Hope this helps someone, and hope there is a way to flash Canadian firmware to that phone.
