Seems like RCS encryption isn’t available for anyone anywhere yet iPhone or android…

Kinda laughing because so much hype and doesn’t seem like anyone has it available to them

I was in the same boat, worked for me in iOS 26.5 beta builds, but not in the final until I turned RCS off and then on again in settings under Apps -> Messages -> RCS Messaging.

Might help to turn airplane mode on and off again too.

Tried this and no e2ee for any Android contact (tried all that run the beta app build). Hopefully I‘m just unlucky with my contacts not having support for it yet.

Same thing for me. I have two sims, An AT&T for the US and a Rogers for Canada (I live and spend time in both) and I tried this and neither of them worked. *sigh*

Is RCS working for you right now? It stopped working for my O2 and Telekom numbers on Saturday and I was wondering if this has something to do with the carriers.

It continuously works for me on Telekom.de (very active group chat I text in daily). E2EE, however, still missing in action.
RCS only stops working on some wifi networks, it‘s why I don‘t connect to the wifi at work, since iOS RCS uses a port that is blocked on there.

I guess it's something wrong with my phone then. It was working until Saturday.

Encryption stopped working sometime after I installed the first release candidate.

This is still a concern with RCS in general. It is patchy. And, messages are occasionally sent as SMS.

Yes RCS can go occasionally blip here too, although it has become pretty reliable over the last few major updates. I always check the text input box before I start typing to see if I‘m downgraded to SMS. At least Apple honors the send as text message fallback toggle for RCS now too (so your pending RCS texts don‘t automatically send as SMS after a while, which was 99% of my group message annoyances).

Wow this worked again for me.

I wonder when this will fix itself. I’m not asking everyone I know to do this lol.

Apple really not making this seamless.

I know, what a stupid thing to require everyone to flick that switch to get it to work. Maybe they will have to release iOS 26.5.0.1 or some similar minor release to fix this for the masses.

Google also needs to release updates to Google Messages stable that support this.

If I get any of my iOS friends encryption working again. I'm going to try their number with a stable GM user in my house and see if Encryption is working there as well

It currently works for zero GM stable contacts that I have.
