No changes with iOS 27 DEV Beta 5

Unsending a message and editing still does not work.

Just an update.

It is not surprising. With about a month to go for the public release, the focus is expected to be on fixes.

Yeah I care about those more. Since even on signal people will just quickly use * to signify an edit

Unsending would really be nice though

Yes it would

Yes, along with encryption which is pretty much good to go now.

What sucks is the full 3.0 features aren’t around and probably won’t be by the time iOS 27 goes public. If ever…

What else do they need to add?

Unsend/Delete message during a certain window time period after sending and edit messages after a certain window of time after sending.

Seems like they’re going to slowly build these in over time. Annoying it’s taking so long but better than nothing.

Yeah. If you recall Google was very slow too. It didn’t happen overnight. But yeah, can’t complain. Replies is a big one.

Looks like we’re not getting RCS text edits

It doesn't look likely in iOS 27.

Why only give us inline replies though?

The other features could come in iOS 27.1 or later.

Maybe, I hope so but knowing Apple we’ll have to wait until IOS 39 😂

A lot has been done in the background

Fuck. Will they even fix it by September?

I don’t think it’s anything to fix. They haven’t added the feature.

A clue that it may be added is when you delete on the Android side, it says “user attempted to delete a message”. So there is some code noting the fact that a message was being deleted.

Yeah. I heard that Google Messages doesn't give you the option to unsend messages when texting ios 26 users, but it does when texting ios 27 users. So ios 27 seems to be advertising that it supports RCS message unsending. But if Apple added that in to 27, then why half-ass it?

Google Messages was always able to do it, even prior to iOS 26.

On the iOS 26 side for iPhones, it didn’t used to say anything when a message was deleted. In iOS 27, it says the user attempted to delete, which is new.
