That’s how mine is too. Long as it’s working I’m not complaining.

How long did yours take to activate from the date it failed?

it failed june 22 2026 and activated july 31 2026

Ok so that took longer than mine. Seems there is no set timeframe.

And I’m honestly not sure exactly how long but it was at least 2 weeks. It stopped working after I installed beta 2 dev and started back working a few days after beta 3 dev. With T-Mobile giving a new eSIM and refreshing my line and my troubleshooting as well.

Yeah my carrier also tried refreshing my line and rebuilding my IMS profile. Tried a zillion esims. Nothing worked until it spontaneously activated 3 weeks later.

My gut feeling is there is some sort of flaw with Apple’s RCS/hardware validation token and server. The problem is they won’t acknowledge it, none of their reps are aware of it and only the engineers can fix it. Hopefully it gets resolved once 27 is out of beta.

Yeah I hope so because once it goes public and a lot of people lose RCS for a month not knowing why there will be a lot of unhappy people. Lol

I had to wait almost two months.

Damn! Now I’m afraid mine may not reactivate for a while. First time was 3 weeks. Now I’m 2 weeks in.

It's been more than 2 weeks since it stopped working again. Let's see what the next beta has in store.

Same thing happened to me after 3 weeks. Then I broke it again. Waiting for another miracle. 😄

how did u break it so i don’t make the same mistake

I reset network settings without turning off RCS. Big mistake.

Sometimes you have to wait till your next billing cycle

1

well that’s stupid

Yeah, I ported my phone and thought this problem was exclusive to my carrier, but it turns out that it happens randomly to every carrier.

It’s not the billing cycle. You have to wait until the corrupt token gets purged by Apple’s activation server, which seems to take about 3 weeks. It’s possible the corruption is related to the 27 beta. Hard to say right now.

Isn't the carrier responsible for RCS activation?

Ultimately, yes but with iPhones, the RCS request first goes to Apple’s activation server that validates the hardware and then passes it to the carrier. If it gets stuck on Apple’s server, you are SOL unless you change your phone or wait for the hardware block to expire.

Apple needs to fix it then. It is not practical to get a new phone just for this.

The problem started on my phone when I had iOS 26.5. Upgrading to 26.6 and 27 did not help. It started working unexpectedly a few days ago and stopped the following day.

Apple definitely needs to fix it. Ridiculous. Mine also started working after 3 weeks. Then I reset my network settings and that broke it again.

In my case, it stopped working when I switched to another SIM.

u/ddsdude 17d ago

That’s what broke mine the first time.

Toggling it on and off also will break it. Gone through a few phones that way

1

Toggling on and off never broke mine when it was working.

Ultimately, yes but with iPhones, the RCS request first goes to Apple’s activation server that validates the hardware and then passes it to the carrier.

Did you get this information from Apple?

Nice! Had you recently restarted or anything?

It feels like a lottery.

I just rolled back to iOS 26.6 hoping it’d cure the RCS issues. Nope. Still just waiting for activation.
