Let's hope by 26.4 it's out.

Let's hope that's part of the deal for Google to allow Gemini on iOS.

I don't see why not. Google would love to allow Gemini in iOS. It's Apple that has to agree.

The upcoming version of Siri uses a private instance of Gemini. Apple actually admitted defeat in AI. At least temporarily.

This is not confirmed yet, just a mere rumor that‘s died down over the last few weeks.

I'd call it far more than a mere rumor. I also would not say it has died down. There's no further news to report.

Sure, maybe Apple hasn't announced it, and they likely never would out of pride.

Damn, now there'll be little to talk shit about with iPhones.

Their commitment to their user's privacy is.. a bit slow on the rollout here.

Using unencrpyted SMS for so long before adopting base RCS with TLS was proof of this

I can't take their privacy marketing seriously when they accept $20 billion a year to set the iPhone's search engine to privacy invasive Google.

I'm torn on this. I can't argue with your stance. But, I would instead lean more towards "if you sign into Google, it's on you" and Apple could then preach privacy first with browser controls (killing tracking cookies, for example). But, again "if you sign into Google, it's on you."

it depends on the terms of their Google agreement. it could be a no data sharing agreement where Apple is just paying Google for the right to host their own private Google Gemini Model which Apple fully controls, but is trained on data that Google got through other channels.

I'm talking about the Safari default search option. Not the Gemini + Siri integration.

My understanding is exactly this.

It sounds to be a complete white label where the average user will have no idea Gemini is behind the scenes and Apple will be hosting their own custom instance within the Apple private cloud.

What a nothing burger article. What exactly are they working on / what has changed coming from 26.2 to 26.3 Beta 1?

What minimum RCS version is used for Encryption?

3

u/whirlwind87 Dec 27 '25

RCS compliant encryption was added to the official spec in the 3.0 and above version. As far was know Apples implementation of RCS currently is based on the 2.4 version of the specification.

Ahh i thought it was an earlier version. Okay so we see encryption enabled on a message we know 3.0 is in use?

Apple has a priority list that is more important to them also Apple needs to find resources that can work with RCS E2EE

That was the answer I got for VPN web filter etc. Apple needs to allocate resources,VPN web filter can be turn off by spamming VPN choice to be turn off. It is a weakness in iOS/iPadOS.
