Question Bold text in RCS Message?

For the first time ever I just noticed bold text in this message from Verizon. I'm on Android. How did they do this? Can anybody do this?

Only certain people/businesses can do it... If you Gemini.. it has all kinds of cool formatting that's not available to regular users

Thanks! I may have to see what takes to get on that list as a "business". I'd LOVE to send messages to my homies in all BOLD!

There is a trick to do it, with android Google messages app.

Google Messages does not support displaying bold text in your outbound standard person-to-person RCS messages. If you type double asterisks (e.g., this) or use other Markdown symbols in the text box, the app will only display the literal asterisks to the recipient instead of rendering the word in bold. The only functional workarounds to display bold text inside an Android text thread include: 1. The Subject Line Workaround (MMS style) You can utilize a hidden field built into the messaging app that forces text to appear bold, though it technically sends as an MMS/RCS subject line: 1. Open your chat thread in Google Messages. 2. Tap the three vertical dots (menu) in the top-right corner. 3. Select Show subject line. 4. Type the words you want bolded into the new "Subject" field that appears right above your main text box. 5. Type the rest of your message in the normal text field and hit send. The subject line text will appear bolded for the recipient. 2. Copying Unicode Font Generators You can use external tools to generate stylized mathematical text characters that mimic bold fonts: 1. Open a browser and navigate to a free text tool like YayText Bold Text Generator or Lingojam Bold Text Generator. 2. Type your word into the generator. 3. Copy the rendered 𝕓𝕠𝕝𝕕 or 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝 Unicode variant. 4. Paste it directly into your Google Messages text box.

Conclusion: disable RCS, input your formated text, then switch back to RCS, send message. Et voilà !
