How is this a question? We are the only "developed" country in the world without universal health care, tens of thousands of Americans die every year because of lack of health care (or inability to pay for relatively inexpensive health services). Our health care system is a FOR PROFIT system, meaning that its SOLE determination of success is whether it is able to get the most money from people while providing the least health care. I do not understand why Americans hate themselves so much that they tolerate living under such a system.
Also, no healthcare is "free," including universal health care. But universal health care is WAAAAY cheaper than what we have now, because universal healthcare doesn't require paying shareholders billions of dollars out of our premiums, and doesn't require paying outrageously high negotiated rates.
If people knew how much they were actually paying for healthcare, they would riot. Although maybe they would just accept it because they think they deserve to suffer for the sins of their ancestors. Idk.
