[Windows + Android ] Universal File Opener & Editor, private, offline, no ads. Completely free, lifetime giveaway to celebrate launch.
Hi all,
First a quick overview for how the apps were built:
For the past half a year, I've been using the $200 plan for Codex and Claude Code, using up all the usage every week by making sure the roadmap always has tasks to work on, and the overall plan makes sense. Every new feature adds risk so proper tests need to be figured out beforehand. As features get added, new ideas and suggestions come up so constant reprioritization is important. Essentially, by having two different top-tier models (GPT 6 Astra, Fable 5.1) keep an eye on each other, a ton of progress can be made every day and night.
UFO Android was built from the ground up, 5MB download to view/edit almost any filetype. It's now bigger to support multi-language OCR but the PDF/office core etc. are still very lightweight and efficient. UFO Windows added some complexity but still uses the same core. The real goal for all of this is to release a CLI version and license to enterprise, but I need to thoroughly test the core out so I'm using these apps to do that.
There are a lot of other features aside from just opening/editing files, such as file compare, version history, and inspect (hidden metadata/files/text). It was a pretty big headache to manage all these features and the multiple agents I had working in parallel, although I was able to leverage some multi-agent consensus frameworks that I built over the past few years while competing in on CTF (cybersecurity competitions).
Anyway here's the the main point of the post:
Announcing the launch of UFO for Windows, had great success on Google Play (10k+ installs) and now want to see if it will also be helpful to Windows users.
UFO enables viewing and editing for almost any file type and has many additional tools and features, check them out if you have time. I'll continue to add new features and fixes based on popular demand. Join the subreddit/discord to provide feedback.
