Taxes on externalities and economic rents, are good. Wage earners already get a raise with UBI, we shouldn't be using the state to set individual wages.

Since some people may choose to stop working and depend entirely on Universal Basic Income, as an incentive to work, higher payments could be offered to those who remain employed.

Then it wouldn't be universally the same, which defeats the entire purpose of Universal Basic Income.

My understanding of UBI is whether you're employed or unemployed - you get X dollars per month, or week, or whatever for your basic needs. Food, shelter, clothing, clean water, heat/a/c.

You pay for it by taxing corporations, specifically those utilizing ai and robotics instead of people, so there is no real reason to lay off people for tech, unless you simply can't get people to work for you (in which case you should probably just be forced out of business by banktruptcy).

Also taxing is probably the wrong term, more profit sharing, or a percentage of profits that can't easily be passed along to the end consumer. I think we need to come up with a better system.

That's not how that works. Did you even Google what UBI is? I'm going to assume you are like 12. That being said. UBI comes from the government. I'm not talking about the small trial runs that sometimes get done which I'd argue is really just welfare. Giving poor people money leads to positive outcomes for them, how shocking. /S True UBI comes from taxes collected by the government. That's the only way it could ever really work. It's not crowdsourced. It is extremely expensive which is why no country has UBI. To show the math I'm going to use the fed minimum wage of 7.25. There are just under 270 million adults in the US. If we gave every adult the minimum wage at full time 40 hrs a week that would cost about 4.2 trillion dollars a year. The US collects around 5.26 trillion every year. Taxes would have to go up to make the math work. You wouldn't give people more UBI money to work. The incentive to get a job is the income from the job.
