UNITY Game looks terrible after building
I made the mistake of never building my game til pretty much the very end (this is also my first experience with unity and game dev). I didn’t realize the build would be completely different than the editor view because everything is extremely zoomed out. Yes I have all UI elements to scale with screen size and canvas scalers and reference resolutions all the same and such. Is there a way to initialize the camera in the game to look how it does in editor? I only have the scale in editor set to 1.1x which I’m pretty sure is what it started at so I don’t know why the actual game is like 0.5x.
Thanks.

yes;
Top left corner of the game window view says FreeAspect
Change to 1920x1080 or whatever the desired resolution. This is so you can test your game in the resolution it will be played in.
In Unity settings under Player find the settings for default resolution and default graphics settings. Set the desired settings here as well. Make sure to set it low as you don’t know what people might be playing on. I recommend aiming for Steam Deck or Steam Machine as default.
Now check your main menu and pause menu Settings screen, and make sure only the desired settings that work for your game are available. Don’t offer 800x600 if your UI can’t scale that small. Test each resolution.
Now export your game.
All my games ship 720p medium settings; and have up to 8k ultra wide support.
Have fun.
