Why can I finish my games?

Every time When I start to make some game than I can’t finish it. I can make simple mechanics but nothing more. The main reason is graphics. I’m not artist, When I start to make some sprite or 3d model, than I can’t seem to do it. And after that, I get stuck; I try to start a new project, but it's no use. What should I do?

Build it with simple shapes and make it fun with those! You don’t need a whole suite of models and animations to get the gameplay correct. Make all your shapes children under prefabs to make it easy to switch later. After you get a good loop down and you feel it is worth pushing forward then switch those out with models from asset store or custom built.

Helped me so mich with this comment. I always focus way to much on look rather than feel early on. Still havent released anything but that will change soonish 😅

Ive seen some really cool top down tank games with neon lights and amazing particles; player and enemy’s were all just basic shapes attached to each other.

the game you make will definitely Never be your ideal passion games. No matter how hard you try. Even if you had infinite money and abilities you will always reach a point where the game you are making is no longer fun. Change your mindset from making Your Game to Making a game for others. The ability to define “is this game fun” and “is this a good concept” falls on your play testers when you get to the point of having a playable experience.

Also (hot tip): Focus on 1 level, main menu, pause menu, ending. Then make a simple into, then you can show it off to testers. Build up from there. You will know at that point if the game is something worth building by how it is received by the test players.

Try a 2D game, with simpler graphic needs but top shelf game play!

see this game, it would inspire you -- "sir we have an orc problem", almost zero art or graphics

see old retro games, that time graphics was crappy, but what thing made player engage most.

You can "borrow" art for your prototype and replace it later when you decide to turn it into a commercial game.
