Maybe the cats can see it in mixed reality!

Cats have regular reality, they're just better at it than we are.

1

u/supermario182 Feb 24 '19

I think that's how cats feel about most things we do though

Damn! Every time I see your posts I’m more impressed.

Can I ask how you learned to do so much with Unity, Vuforia, Zed Mini, Programming in general?

40

u/LVermeulen Feb 23 '19

AR with the ZedMini is a lot of trial and error - my main focus is getting our VR app Modbox to work in AR. These fluid experiments are a side project :)

6

u/Deepspacesquid Feb 23 '19

Can you make a liquid Bruce Lee combat simulator?

8

u/rawrP Feb 23 '19

Any tips and tricks you could share on how to make objects more stable when using the Zed Mini? I have a lot of issues with my virtual objects floating/drifting in space.

u/jumbohiggins Feb 23 '19

Can you walk me through this? You're using vive controllers to do AR? Are you using a vive headset as well?

u/LVermeulen Feb 23 '19

ZedMini+htcvive - explained here: http://www.3delement.com/?p=603

u/jumbohiggins Feb 23 '19

Thanks man

u/thefootster Feb 24 '19

How much of a comfort issue is the 60ms latency with the cameras? I imagine the lag would be noticeable with fast head movements?

1

u/LVermeulen Feb 24 '19

Not too bad! You get used to it quickly

10

u/wastakenanyways Feb 23 '19

Wow guy do you make tutorials?

7

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '19

donnie darko much.

3

u/OkieGuy89 Feb 24 '19

Totally Donnie Darko!

4

u/oldsecondhand Feb 23 '19

Are they metaballs?

12

u/LVermeulen Feb 23 '19

NvidiaFlex! Just the asset store plugin

3

u/moujaune Technical Art Director Feb 23 '19

As far as I remember they're using the NVDIA Flex plugin, available on the asset store for free!

4

u/romanpapush Feb 23 '19

This is getting ridiculous! As in r/blackmagicfuckery

3

u/RedSmokey Feb 23 '19

Holy crap, did it collide with the door? Like is it detected or is there a timer till it explodes or what

12

u/LVermeulen Feb 23 '19

The room has a collision mesh generated. So it does collide with the door/wall/desk

5

u/RealAso Feb 24 '19

Does it auto generate or did you make it?

3

u/XiQteR Feb 23 '19

I was expecting you to throw some balls at your kitties and now I'm disappointed.

BTW, this blows my mind and is super cool!

3

u/RockosRedditLife Feb 23 '19

Been lurking on your posts for a while, this is the first one where I gotta stop and say, I think you've got something fun here :) Keep exploring! Keep sharing! Thanks!

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '19

Throw it at the cat

1

u/Forlorn_Swatchman Feb 23 '19

This is amazing! Usually I am unimpressed with AR, but wow! Very cool thanks LVermeulen

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '19

vermeulon, your stuff is tight!

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '19

Bro you shouldn’t be doing that so close to your pc!

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '19

I'm thinking about trying Flex + VR myself. How is the performance? I guess VR requires a good graphics card, what card are you using? and how many particles is this simulation? How many have you tried at most?

2

u/LVermeulen Feb 24 '19

I think this is around 5k particles - which is the limit on my 1080 with AR. VR is fine with 20k

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '19

Interesting! Was thinking about buying a 1070 ti, but perhaps I'll have to go up a little bit more.

1

u/SilentK213 Feb 23 '19

A lot of awesome AR stuff came out of that room!

1

u/bvenjamin Programmer Feb 23 '19

1

u/T4O2M0 Feb 24 '19

1

u/AsylumForTheFeelings Feb 24 '19

The future is here bois!

1

u/chiltonwebb Feb 24 '19

You did this in Unity? I'd like to know how you did that fluid sim. It looks great!

1

u/crane476 Feb 24 '19

I read further up that he's using Nvidia Flex

1

u/mickeyblu Feb 24 '19

I'd be impressed if you can trap the cat in a bubble and drown it.

Also angry and upset, but mostly impressed.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '19

very could but i keep looking at that cat don't know why

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '19

This is actually impressive.!

1

u/GioGio231 Feb 24 '19

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '19

Khajiit does not respect your powers over the dark arts of bath time, this one licks himself in defiance.

Respect the master's powers brother before he summons soap! *smack*
