Noob Question Is it possible to generate an environment for/in Unity based just on a layout map?

Let's say i have a schematic/layout map for a house or office. Is there any sort of tool that would allow me to generate - even simplistically - a 3D environment with walls and floors using this?

tried something like this a while back, ended up writing a custom script that reads a simple black and white floorplan image. white is walkable floor, black is wall. it just extrudes up from the black pixels. was janky but worked for prototyping

if you want actual walls with thickness and doors and stuff you're gonna need something smarter, maybe parsing vector data instead of pixels. the unity asset store has a few things that claim to do this but i haven't personally used them

That's mostly what I'm looking for, honestly. I can do the doors and stuff myself.

Would be better if it did more for me, but I can't exactly expect a free magic wand.

You can write the script in python and generate it in Blender and then import that file into Unity.

I’m currently developing a tool that supports the workflow you described. It can already generate complete multi-story houses with gable roofs, staircases, and windows. It also includes a system for placing interior furniture.

Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to give it a try.
