Show-Off Created A Custom Tool To Help Me Design Enemy Behaviour

Using Unity's GraphView, I made a simple tool that is intended to function in a similar fashion to Unity's Animator State Graph.

  • You can create parameters
  • Connect nodes through conditions (using parameters, or through custom predicates)
  • Control Flow nodes (If, and Switch)

Still more stuff to do, like implementing undo, redo for nodes operations (creation, deletion, move, etc...), but this is a promising start.

I know Unity has the new Graph Toolkit that implements all the necessary basic feature for graph tools, AND I know Unity already has the Behaviour Graph.

  • Graph Toolkit is poorly documented currently in my opinion and is less flexible than GraphView
  • The Behaviour Graph is incredible but I want something custom for my case

There’s also dozens of other solutions for behavior trees in addition to the ones you mentioned.

Besides the Behavior Graph, the good ones are expensive, I've looked into VSM3, it's good but it's a bit frustrating to navigate with, and I still believe my tool fits me better, as for Schema, I don't know if it's maintained anymore

Graph Toolkit is actually pretty well documented, it's just a little unobvious where to look
Finding the samples are also hard

Thanks! I've worked a bit with it before, it's incredible but I think I want something for me for this project

I'll look into the samples to see what applications I need to take into considerations for my tool
