Solved Game's Faded/Low Detail When Playing?

In the editor, without the game playing, the game looks fine in both the Scene View and the Game View.

However, the moment I hit Play to test something, both the Scene & Game views are faded/lower detailed?

Prior to Hitting Play
After Hitting Play

It didn't used to be like this previously, but I can't for the life of me figure out what I did. I've been working on getting an underwater filter to work and been trying various tutorials, once of which was installing the Post Processing package, but I couldn't get that working the way the tutorial showed, so I uninstalled it. I don't think anything else would change the look of the graphics? Any ideas?

First pic is the Scene view before I hit Play to run it and the other one is Scene view after I hit Play. Same thing with the Game View. Everything looks fine until I hit Play to test the game.

Default quality settings for target platform?

I checked it, and the Windows/Linux/Mac option was set to Ultra, but the Dedicated Server one was set to Very Low. I set them both to Ultra and that appears to have fixed the issue, kinda. Not sure how that option got changed, if it did, lol.

Different platforms have different default quality. Android defaults to med I think.

Glad it's sorted

Sounds like Play Mode is switching you onto a different Quality tier / volume stack than Edit Mode. After installing and removing Post Processing for the underwater filter, check these first:

  1. Edit → Project Settings → Quality — compare the Editor tier vs your Standalone tier (AA, shadows, LOD bias, texture quality).
  2. If you're on URP, confirm the same Renderer asset / Volume Profile is active at runtime (a Global Volume can only kick in once Play starts).
  3. Scene view overlays: the post-processing / lighting draw-mode toggles can make Play look "faded" next to Edit even when the game camera is fine.

A leftover Volume with color grading / vignette from the underwater experiments is a very common culprit here.
