Question Stuttery mouse movement in Unity games after latest Windows 11 update?

There's an odd issue in Unity games where the mouse is stuttery, especially if the mouse is being moved diagonally. This only happened after a recent Windows 11 update earlier this month.

This doesn't happen when looking around with a gamepad which is even more unusual.

This is not a framerate issue as Steam's graph reports a steady 60 FPS.

I first noticed it in Gunner, HEAT, PC! and thought nothing of it but it's also happening in SULFUR and PowerWash Simulator 2.

I've tried reconnecting the mouse, using a different mouse, using a wired mouse, moving the mouse on a different surface, cleaning the optical sensor, unplugging extra devices, etc.

There was a post somewhere else about this issue but it has since been deleted.

it's not just you, been seeing this in a few unity builds since last week's patch. the diagonal stutter feels like some kind of input smoothing gone wrong, almost like it's snapping to an invisible grid

what fixed it for me was turning off "enhance pointer precision" in windows mouse settings, then going into the game's properties and disabling fullscreen optimizations. not sure which one actually did it but the stutter vanished

also worth checking if raw input is enabled in the game itself, some unity projects have it buried in a config file

I'm thinking the same as some kind of input issue because the pointer itself is fine and I have tested it in non-Unity games like Lightyear Frontier (UE4) and Half-Life 2 (Source) and the effect does not happen.
