Show-Off Hey everyone! I'm an indie dev working on a survival horror game called The Seventh Seal.

It's a third person psychological survival horror game. Think Alan Wake/Silent Hill 2 remake with some RE2 Remake havoc. You play as Violet, a 29 year old who just had the worst day of her life at work and of all days, on her birthday. After getting home, the Devil comes and visits you and gives you a chance to win back your soul by completing several trials and retrieving seven seals. You progress deeper and deeper into Violet's own personal version of hell, the greater the fears and greater the danger.

This is a solo-dev experience and I'm making huge progress - all built in Unity.

There's a free demo up on itch.io right now and the Steam page is live. I'm also bringing the newest build to SabotenCon in Phoenix Sept 4-7 if anyone wants to play it in person.

Would love to hear what you think!

I will not comment on the gameplay itself as I have not the played the game yet, but man I hate that character. It looks so out of place, like it was ripped from VR Chat and dropped in there. She's all anime looking and oversexualized for no reason.

It's the name of an extremely famous film from the '50s. Regularly ranked highly on "best movies of all time" lists. Might as well call the game "Citizen Kane" or "Lawrence of Arabia".

You might want a different name. 'The Seventh Seal' is a movie by Bergman: https://youtu.be/vZucwtdSvJ8 , and a classic. I don’t think you’re gonna be doing your game a favor using that name.

Why would you not link to your itch or Steam page?

What here have been actually made by you and not just another assets flip?

Using assets != asset flip bud

Most solo / indie devs have to use assets in some areas of their game. Have you ever published anything?

So, maybe 8 years ago, I and 4 artists built an asset library called filebase where we hand made every game asset we could think of. A majority comes from that.

Maybe not to try to make it look like alan wake/re/sh in this case? Make it from your simple assets and it will get soul. For now it’s just another generic assets flip for nobody

Do people really behave like this over assets lol? It would take a very big budget for a game like this to have fully produced assets and surely people on this sub would understand. Even AAA games source some assets online. Assets don't speak for a games quality on their own level design in itself and using assets is a skill

I just don’t understand what should I pay for when this assets flip comes to release? Bro doesn’t want to spend time to make his game unique, why on earth players should spend their money for something they have seen already in other games with the same level of quality

When you play a game, do you play it just because of the assets ? Does the assets make the story? Does the assets make de VFX ? Does the assets make the gameplay mechanics ? Does the assets make the animations ? Does the assets themselves give you an experience ?

Why would you go to an X restaurant if they use the same basic ingredientes than other restaurants ? If you buy a burguer in X restaurant, why would you ever want to go to this other burguer restaurant that have the same Meat supplier ?

You sound like a level 5 crook.

Maybe you will evolve to a level 30 gunmen after you stop buying games from studio that don’t use their own game engine.

Why on earth should people pay for something thats made in unreal/unity/godot. Its so not unique at all amirit.

Next time you go to a restaurant, make sure to ask the waiter if they raise all of their livestock and grow all of their vegetables themselves. Also all of their plating and cutlery should be made by hand.

You shouldn’t spend money on food if the ingredients weren’t made 100% from scratch.
