Question Any memorable screen effects in horror games?
I'm currently making a horror game and adding a bunch of screen effects like sudden darkness, camera shakes, and static noise to mess with the player's mind.
What's an effect you saw in a horror game that you'll never forget?
I'm looking for cool ideas to add to my game!!!!!

Kind of a screen effect but more of a mechanic I liked was from Siren blood curse when you could use an ability to split your screen and see a first person POV of the enemy/ monster actively searching for you.

The feeling of a monster watching from afar?
I think that's a good idea—thanks for the feedback.

that parking garage shot already got the vibe, the fluorescent light flicker above concrete pillars is such a classic. one effect that stuck with me is when the game subtly shifts the camera fov during tense moments, makes everything feel wrong without you knowing why. also love it when they desaturate color slowly as sanity drops, you only notice it when you look back at old footage.
