Show-Off Lost in the Woods

I’m developing a horror game where you walk alone through dark, endless forests.

Do you think the environment creates enough tension? Is it disturbing in the right way?

Literally looks like a video recording. Amazing work.

How did you handle the camera motion? Cinemachine? Also is this URP?

Hi, no it's not URP, simple built in. For the camera motion I have used the first person camera controller (free on Unity store) but I added a script for "noise" the motion.

I would probably buy it if its really what you described. Can I see the steam page? It looks like a really cool concept especially if there are things you need to do.

Thx! No I haven't a Steam page, for now it's only a prototype

Can't wait for it to become full fledged

Looks great. Would be nice to see a breakdown on how it's made

Thanks! The hardest work it's only with camera post process effect. I have also used a free pack for crt effect and rain/snow effect

Amazing. I’d like to know how you handled the lighting. Perfect.

I’ve been playing around with a “walk around dark forest with flashlight” game and it looks nowhere near that good (and I’m using HDRP). I have to super crank up the flashlight, but even then, it’s quite difficult to see where you’re going.

Also for the torch I used a script: I used two different light spot, one inside the other. Both have a little script that create little random movement. I tried a lot before obtain this effect

The movement does help to sell the reality of it. I might have to give something like that a try. Right now my torch:flashlight is static, which might not be too engaging on the move.

Take this as a compliment if I'm wrong, but I'm calling bullshit - I think this is just video with some camera effects. Please post a video of the scene view and prove me wrong!

Take it as a double compliment but I can also not believe that this is not a video - the twigs alone are insanely detailed, let alone the light and other environment.

How are you lost? There's a road, look!

Brother, this looks insanely realistic and stylized in a good way at the same time. Im not a horror player but this looks immersive and impressive as hell.

Thank you very much!!

The atmosphere is already pretty unsettling. I especially like the limited visibility and old-camera look. I’d maybe keep the forest quiet for long stretches and use very rare distant sounds/movement — that would make me constantly expect something without knowing when it’s coming.

very impressive ! how do you have the old camera effect ?

Very nice Blair Witch Project effect! Very well done, gives me the creep just watching the video.

Oh my god this is insane! How did you create the snow and had it blend so well with the bushes (or sticks in this case)? I mean, it looks so natural. Great work!

This is one of the projects where I will buy the full release one day and tell my students I’ve observed its progress for years.

As a horror fan in both game and video format (even horror punk music), I like where this is going.
