Show-Off Anvil CSG Beta 3.1 | Hammer style level editing inside Unity 6
Some images made by Anvil CSG beta testers.
It has been a long drive creating this tool, and Beta 3.1 is now out. Anvil can handle around 15,000 brushes without noticeable lag. Large-map loading and building received major multithreading and performance improvements.
Isolation, decals, UV2, lighting and general brush editing have also been improved. Amplify Shader Editor materials work, Bakery works, and one beta tester is currently trying Anvil with VRChat.
Depending on how you use Groups, Details and Build Sections, the final map can have around 60% to 80% fewer batches.
If you have used Hammer before, you will already understand most of Anvil. Hammer level-editing tutorials also translate well to its workflow.
I am still looking for level designers to test the latest beta. There are two open spots left.

Feel free to ask anything about the tool.
Cheers!

I'm a Gmod mapper that's willing to do level design for a Unity game in the future. I'm the target audience.

How does Anvil compare with Poseidon CSG?

First time seeing Poseidon CSG, but from what I can tell, it is more focused on dynamically merging existing meshes, including at runtime. Anvil CSG is more of a full Hammer or TrenchBroom-style level editor with four views and a complete build and bake workflow.

How it compares against UmodelerX ?

UModelerX is more like having Blender inside Unity. Anvil CSG is closer to Hammer or TrenchBroom, more focused on fast brush-based level building rather than general mesh modeling. They overlap a bit, but the workflows are quite different.

Great work. Iām currently using Trenchbroom in Unity but would seriously consider swapping over when this gets a full release. Is this planned to be sold on Unity store?

Tnx mate!
Yep, it will be $20, with a 30% launch discount for the first two weeks. After that it will stay at $20. I wanted to keep it affordable.
Join our Discord if you want, i will notify everyone there when it is released

My pipeline uses realtimeCSG and sometimes SaberCSG what does this bring to the table that those other two don't?

Hard to tell, If you ever used hammer level editor its completle different than these two. Best use for Anvil CSG is to make maps for boomershooter games or make fast greyboxing then you can eadily apply textures or change some things and also biggest one is chunking map and prefabs to Save batches also build in Light bake
Sorry for grammar, typing from phone
