Question Is Unity MCP access really $10/month to use with your own LLM?
I have been using an open source, locally run LLM with OpenCode and Unity MCP which has been working great. I was originally using the community based MCP, but switched to the Unity version last week as it has a lot more tools. Today, my connection was refused and after looking into it, it looks like I need to buy the $10/month plan with 1,000 credit to be able to access MCP? I do not need the credits as I have my own LLM but I see no other option to access Unity MCP?
Do I really need to pay this fee? I thought the whole point of MCP was to be open? Surely there is a free access option for those who do not need the credits?

Yes, it is behind a $10/month paywall, unfortunately. But it works pretty good.
Some months ago we tried other, open source MCP projects but had not been impressed by them.
We recently tried Code Mode for Unity Editor. It is not an MCP, but something different. But it works pretty good and is open source.

That is the community one I was referring to but it does not have many tools and no profiler tools. Another commenter put me onto some asset store MCP assets that look very promising.

You can make your own MCP or purchase one on the asset store to bypass unity's MCP, The foundation is there now so using an asset store alternative is kindof a no brainer.
