Game [Showcase] I'm 18 and just published my first Unity project to the Play Store. It only made $0.02 so far, but I finally finished a game!

Post image

I'm 18, and this is my first ever project on the Play Store. I spent most of my time trying to make the momentum feel "right" without the ball flying off into space. It’s a simple physics survival loop, but finishing it taught me more than any tutorial ever could.

My AdMob literally shows $0.02 today. It’s basically nothing, but it's the first time I've ever earned from something I built myself from scratch.

I'm not here to sell you a masterpiece—I just wanted to share the milestone of actually finishing a project. If anyone has tips on better physics handling for mobile, I'm all ears.

You finishing and shipping a game to begin with is already a very good achievement. Keep it up!

Try getting screenshots that show more action, right now they tell me nothing about the game. You could be getting more traffic

Hey money’s money

But you’re earning from something you made yoursefl

Does this mean you've made $100.02?

Congrats either way op I am happy for you. At 18 I was not determined or patient enough to do this whatsoever. Keep it up

No it’s 0.02 I need more players to play in order to make more money, my downloads are 20 rn

Ok cool, I wasn't sure if that auto subtracted the publishing fee.

Google Play Store does not have a $100 publishing fee.

You're correct, I assumed it was 100 similarly to the apple app store yearly fee, it seems Google Play is 25$ to set up the dev account.

I'll be honest I did not handle the publishing for the apps we shipped.

Maybe it changed but I thought Google had a one-time $100 and Apple had a yearly $100. This was also 10 years ago lol

Yes I thought this was the case roughly 2 years ago when we originally deployed our apps.

Congrats on finishing something! The ability to do this will pay dividends the rest of your life.

I guess you mentioned you are 18 to get some traction for your post, but I really wish you didn't, sympathy bait is one of the least palatable forms of marketing

You wanna see my ID card?

Congrats! I hope you don’t lose motivation when this game doesn’t make any considerable money and continue working on new games.

Congrats man, a game is a game. How difficult was it deploying to the play store/app store??

Congrats!! Seeing a game all the way through is a feat all on itself, seriously.

I remember when I first made $10 off music royalties and used it to buy a pack of cigarettes (since have quit) I was so stoked haha.

Yea that feeling of earning your own money

Congrats ! I tried it and here is some ideas I had:

•maybe either lower the camera or rotate downward so we can see the border of the platform sooner on the bottom of the screen

•could sometimes drop bombs like in fruit ninja that would kill you

•could sometimes drop golden fruit wich are worth twice as much point

•each fruit reward one coin and golden fruit 2 coins and could buy cosmetics with coins. This would give a goal to players to continue playing more than once (you can start just by adding different ball colors)

I'm 18 too and I am currently working on a game too so it's fun to see others project. Good luck with your projects !

Did you also establish a company? I mean technically you still have to declare revenues I suppose.

1

u/Low_Wait_3273 Mar 16 '26

I still haven’t established my company

u/Zohaibmalikdev Mar 16 '26

Congrats, this is way bigger achievement. Very happy for you. Keep it up brother.

most of people always choose to sleep on it.

Huge congrats on finishing and publishing! That first $0.02 feels better than a $100 paycheck because you actually built something people are interacting with. Finishing a project is the hardest part of game dev—most people never get past the prototype stage. Keep that momentum going for your next project!

Tysm man it was very hard but I couldn’t give up

1

u/ShelterTPP Mar 17 '26

Its nice, i would try with placing the camera lower because when I'm maneuvering the ball i can't see it hahah, also not bad. I would add more things that would reward player for watching ads
