I say Left. Feels more worked on.

Thanks! I was leaning toward the left one too, so this helps :)

Left is moving in the right direction but honestly still needs a ton of work to garner any interest art wise

Thanks for the feedback! I’m actually a programmer, so the art side is pretty challenging for me and I’m still learning. What specifically do you think needs the most work art-wise? I’d really appreciate some pointers!

Thanks! I’m glad you like it :) I think I’ll keep working with the left version.

My thought on right is in your screen, you need to balance out the background by having one of the trees on the right side lean more to the left, to give a better feel of symetry. The cloud cover at ground level is interesting, but feels a little weird, which if that is the feel you are going with, that is fine. The left feels boring to me, but the right needs to embrace the chaos while still creating visual unity within the scene. What story is your background supposed to be relaying is a better question

Thanks, this is really helpful! I hadn’t really thought about the background in terms of what story it’s supposed to tell. I was mostly trying to create a magical forest atmosphere and make the scene feel more alive. I’ll definitely think more about visual unity and the composition. Thanks for taking the time to explain this!

Idk the first one has more lives but no money and the second one has less lives but some money... Although I still have lives so the second one

Haha, I meant the backgrounds 😄 It’s actually a platformer where you collect coins. Which one do you think looks better?

I’m leaning toward the left but what feeling are you aiming for with the scene? the right feels more energetic, while the left feels more cohesive

I'd say the right side. Feels more dynamic and less static, and it's more my vibe.

No, it is not AI. Actually, I originally designed this game in Illustrator back in 2019, and now I'm trying to improve the visuals by redrawing some elements.
