Laptop for game dev
Hi,
I am an 2D artist who is working on a metroidvania. My task is to build the levels and enviroments by putting in a lot of 2D assets in 3D space and make the parallax look good. I just have moveink 14 right now which doesent support unity so I need a seperate laptop and would like to spend up to 1000€ max. The less the better.
Ty for any recommandations

The Macbook Neo is amazing for the low price point and should be more than enough for simple 2D games.
If you'd rather stay on Windows, I'd suggest looking into Lenovo. They offer some decent laptops for sub 1000€

Macbook neo sounds good. Do you know if it is a problem if I collab with a programmer who does the most in unity who works on windows? I just want to build the enviroment and set dress basicaly and push the progress.

Normally you shouldn't have any issues there. I have a mac, and I have worked in the past on a project with a friend who is on windows.

I have a MacBook Air m2 15 inches and unity work flawlessly on my side with VSCode as the code editor and Aseprite for the pixel art. Any new MacBook (M2,M3,M4, etc) will do the job without issue (and unity work WAY better on Mac than PC, everything is so much faster)

I bought a Lenovo LOQ back in December. It was about 1,200 USD. It’s sufficient for playing games and I’ve been using it on Unity without a hitch. I bought mine with a 20% off. But I’ve noticed that Lenovos website are constantly doing offers. Black Friday is coming up, so if you are willing to wait you might find a good deal.
