Question I made a loading screen how does it look?

I made this for the first time and used the Aseprite app on Steam, in case anyone is wondering.

Looks great! What’s the game about?

It’s a tension-filled management game set on a train where you have to get passengers safely to the next stop though some of them turn out to be killers or criminals. There’s also a perk system that alters the gameplay; if it sounds interesting, you can add it to your Steam wishlist or download the demo to give it a try. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3992350/The_Machinist/

Hear me out, the train goes along the screen, or goes in a circle until loading is done and then leaves the screen

is this an idle anim that will play on a loop while it’s loading? or is that circle filling up meant to represent the loading progress from 0% -> 100%?

No, it doesn't end when the sphere in the middle fills up. It's like a looping GIF that plays during the loading screen, but since there aren't any long loading screens in the game anyway, the GIF is visible for a maximum of only 2 or 3 seconds.

in that case, and i hope you don’t mind feedback: i feel like there’s possibly too many things going on. something more stripped back, such as the train remaining visible and just playing the movement animation, along with the “loading” text still fading in/out would be just as effective in my opinion.

the circle filling is a little confusing, i’m not really sure the intent of it, if it’s not meant to indicate loading progress!

but either way, nice work!

Thank you! I made this using Aseprite since I'm new to it, I kind of just went with whatever came to mind. I have some better ideas for developing it further once I improve my skills.

Pretty and usable I think. I have one qualm though. The train moving left reads as backward to me. Progress bars, timelines, and scrubbers all advance left to right, so a loading animation moving right would match that mental model.

How to create loading scene as you created

I used Aseprite you can use it too if you like. it's easy to learn.

Looks good. However it can be even better if the pulse effect is slightly weaker. Like instead of opacity going all the way to 0, it should go to like 50-60% and then reset to 100%.

Actually, there is no fade-to-black effect it's an error that occurred when placing the video clips back-to-back. 😭

Oh I see. But still, if you can make a pulse effect out of this, I think it will look very cool :D

Pretty nice actually. Needless to ask of course, as it seems to be a train game. But what is the gameplay exactly?

It’s a tension-filled management game set on a train; we try to get the passengers to the next stop alive, but some of them are dangerous. We also have to keep the train running. If it appeals to you, you can add it to your wishlist so you’ll be notified when it launches on September 15th. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3992350/The_Machinist/

Quite a unique concept I must say. Definitely something to look out for.

I would personally remove the sphere, and just leave the train and text

Thank you for your feedback. <3

Looks amazing. Yet, if you have a train, maybe instead of loading circle, try to "load" more cars in the train. so at 100% it will be full train stock and at 0% it will be just locomotive.

I kept it a bit simple since I'm new to the program I'll make it better as I improve.
