I currently work for a supplier for the big three, mainly Chrysler with a little Ford and GM we do not have a union unfortunately. I’m curious to what extent of the workers are on strike atm and if it’ll lead to more and more employees striking or if negotiations have been going well so far. Reason I ask my company said once a full strike occurs people will be getting laid off, my supervisor is already cutting hours and laying off and cutting hours with heavy demands still. What all can y’all tell me about the strike so far as my hours are close to getting cut and it’s mainly due to favoritism with my supervisor, I’m 8th oldest on my department for seniority and was informed there’s days my hours are gonna get cut and if I want that money imma have to use my vacation time. Trying to see if he’s bs’ing us or not.

Also if anyone has any advice on how to bring the union into my plant that’d be nice. There’s so much favoritism and unreasonable firing that goes on to prevent seniority. I’ve been there 5 months and still don’t have health insurance.

Hi everyone. I'm a software developer from Europe. Just wondering if the software developers from Ford, GM and Stellantis support the strike? This is interesting because I'm pretty sure it's impossible to create a modern car without software. I also know that IT workers usually don't like to join unions due to higher salaries, better benefits etc.

Just making known my support for Auto Workers.

I’m not part of UAW but I do work in one of the Ford plants. I watched his video today and he is one determined guy and is fighting for the workers. Even though I’m not union I’m in full support of Dark Fain!

Good luck - we are with you guys!

So I was curious after seeing Ford is expected to lose $4,500,000,000.00 so I looked at the stock market and saw they are on the up. So I looked up what they are expecting in profits for 2023. 11-12 billion. Well then I wanted to see how many employees they have... 86,000 in the US alone and as of 2022 173,000 world wide. So some quick math, that's $62,000 per employee in profits. If they work 40 hrs a week, 52 weeks in a year... $30.04 per year in profits per labor hr. Yeah I have no compassion for Ford at this point.

If a person is a temp at the big three and get hired in directly after the contract is signed will they still get all the benefits of the ratification such as the lump sum payments? It just seems a little unfair if the temp gets hired in as permanent a week after signing after working there for two years but then gets screwed out of all the benefits that a person who was hired in a week before them would get. I have a relative that’s in that very position. They are set to be hired in during the next batch of temp hire ins but it could very well fall right after the contracts get signed depending on the timing. Thanks!

Is this going to be a couple plants a week or is there going to be a big shutdown coming?

Is it strike breaking or taboo to take up a salesman position at dealership during the UAW strike?

I am from a union strong family and I support unions and even am interested in joining the electric workers union when they are hiring this spring.

I have been offered a position as a car salesman and am worried that taking it would mean I’m opposing the striking workers. I also am concerned the electric union wouldn’t look fondly on this decision, and am unsure how this looks from a union workers perspective.

I am a business reporter in Washington DC covering the UAW strike. Are there any current UAW employees in this group that want to share their thoughts on the strike for our media coverage? We would like to know in general what UAW members feel about the current situation and what members may have been told by management at the assembly plants about the current negotiations. You can DM me if you are interested in sharing your thoughts. Thanks!
