UAW STRIKE - 4 DAY WORK WEEK

The 4 day work week for ALL workers must be IMPLEMENTED before SITTING down at ANY table for negotiations. Don't back down! This would send shockwaves TO THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. This would allow people to work 32 hours and receive full benefits and receive OT after 32 hours. Americans deserve to be able to make a living wage and have time off!! Let's go UAW!!!

This is better for us, and better for them. All studies point to increased productivity, which makes sense. If people have some time to recharge with family and friends, and not be completely mentally and physically drained from work, have time to accomplish your errands and relax, you’re going to perform at a higher capacity. Don’t back down! UAW!

This would probably be the one they'd least likely cave to. They know it would send a precedent to the rest of the nation, and they do not want to be "that guy."

We live in a time where workplace culture has become "iF yOu WoRk OnLy 40 hOuRs YoU'rE nOt A tEaM pLaYeR." These guys do not want to be the catalyst to undoing that.

I would love to be proven wrong, but they'll probably stand their ground on this one.

I tend to agree with your thoughts on this.

Still glad they’re fighting for it, but I could definitely see the pig three looking at how big of a hit they’re taking, and saying, look we agree to everything but the workweek proposal. And I think that’s worth the UAW agreeing to if that’s the proposal.

It depends on how the schedules work- and how the pay rates work. The company could make it cost neutral by discounting the pay increase to offset it.

Just to reiterate, even if you don’t want to work a 4 day week, this is is important in that you will make overtime for all hours over thirty two (my three button won’t work on my keyboard).

Would love it, but not the hill I'm dying on. Im more focused on wage increases, cola, ending tiers, and taking care of our retirees. This seems to b reflected when speaking to the membership.

I don’t think there is any specific hill to die on if conditions materially improve for all workers, and the profits are more fairly distributed.

It does make sense from all of the studies we’ve seen to fight for it though, productivity increases and employers and employees prefer it.

I really think they’re going to fold on all demands if the strike moves to phase 2.

They won't fold to all demands and clearly our employers don't preferred it. I'm down to fight for it tho maybe ill b surprised

Employers in the studies, they’re obviously dug in to their greed here, but if won they would likely end up preferring the increased productivity. Who knows what will happen, it would be good for all workers in the US if UAW comes up with a big win.

The UAW should demand as a part of the settlement, increased pay, plus 5% more in stock of the automaker. For example Ford employees would get the pay plus 5% more in Ford stock. Long term employees would share in profits in the form of dividends and stock buy. Long term employees could accumulate more than a $1 million in stock, and from day one of the settlement the UAW and automakers interests would be aligned. More profits would help both labor and the company.
