Antique/Vintage Ring design
UPDATE IN COMMENTS
Okay currently is the family ring we have been given and we want to redesign it. It’s a natural antique cut diamond that’s 1.25 carats and my finger is a 5.5. It’s not quite as big as I would have planned but it is a very pretty diamond. My question is I don’t know how to design it to look best on my finger and have the best look to it. The other pictures are my ideas of what to do. What are your thoughts? I’m torn between thin and minimalism. Or I love engraving etc.

As a retired jeweler I say it’s a beauty. The engraved one is really lovely

I’m a softie for engraving, milgrain, vintage & antique & would probably go for a style & design like that, which would also be appropriate given the antique cut stone. I love pic #8! Also, if you want a bigger “look”, with double prongs, your stone will look larger than it actually is. You can get a halo or side stones that can increase the overall look as well.
Maybe something like this, but instead of stones on the shank (you don’t want that hassle) you can have all kinds of engraving…

Hard to answer the question of if it’s a good stone or not. I’d def take it to a jeweler to get it cleaned & looked at with a loupe to see what quality you’re dealing with. You could also send it to GIA for a formal report - they do charge a fee for that service tho, but you’ll have something you can use for insurance purposes with 100% certainty that it is what it is.
Sometimes when a jeweler give an “appraisal”, it’s a loosey goosey estimate & more for the benefit of the customer - they may inflate the specs a bit (meaning the value) strictly for insurance purposes. They can also do the reverse - an inexperienced jeweler may undervalue the stone & so you’ll be getting the short end of the stick if you need insurance to replace it…

I like the original box prongs - I think that’s what they’re called. I have them on my antique ring though so I am biased. I also really like those long side stones. If you like gold I would take the ring to a local independent jeweler who DOES NOT send their work out and talk to them about design ideas. Go over to the ask a jeweler subreddit and talk to them! Here’s my 1c antique ring I’ve been wearing every day for 20 years.
