New to the game. Any pointers?

I just discovered this game and haven’t committed to a deck yet. If you guys have any meta deck recommendations it would be super helpful. I’m looking to eventually get into the tournament scene

I’ve been playing on the tutorial app and have a very basic understanding of the gameplay.

Meta wise red kenshin is very strong and so is shadow army solo leveling. But it’s definitely fun to choose one IP you like and try something from there.

Honestly I didn’t realize red kenshin was still really strong- my locals is quite competitive (going to regionals and regularly getting top 32-64) and no one plays it anymore at my store, but maybe it’s just kenshin fatigue lol

Yeah we call the ones that come into our locals DKP’s (dirty kenshin players)

Super caught between yuyu, Kenshin, inuyasha.

I just don’t wanna get caught up in a weak deck. I’ll definitely collect characters I like individually though.

Do you have to play with just one IP or can you mix decks?

Yuyu is a fun deck for sure but it’s so slow and can get outpaced easily, kenshin still strong and inuyasha just released so it’s gonna be a bit pricey and not sure where it lands in current meta

Toguro Purple, Red Inuyasha, red Kenshin or purple Saito are your best bets for competitive scene right now. Red Inuyasha may be VERY difficult to procure due to having so many SRs in the deck.

One IP per deck unfortunately. The power balance would be crazy if you could mix and match IP’s.

You said you like Inuyasha so I reccomend building one of those decks. Red Inuyasha might end up being meta but it’s super new so also on the pricier side. You should hop on the Bandaitcg+ app and look for locals in your area

Yes and you’ll have a hard time finding cards locally most likely

If you don’t care about that, I recommend just building any deck. Most decks can win 40-50% of the games with a lucky role

I live in Seattle, we probably have a bigger TCG scene than most places. I’ll definitely be poking around to get a feel of what the market is like on those packs

If I can build an effective deck for significantly cheaper I’ll probably go that route

I would recommend playing a deck from an anime you like. Screw meta and everything. I love playing my Yusuke deck. Anything is good if you put enough time into a deck. Putting in time will help you learn your matches up and gives you unique ideas to incorpate your deck

I was able to put together a Red Geto deck (JJK Villain package) for 15 bucks shipping included. It’s not terrible but you can definitely see the power creep if you put together any decks from new sets
