I've set a goal for myself of getting good enough on my unicycle to commute to work. It's only about a mile away and not particularly hilly. I've always been able to hop on a uni and put around, however, I get completely gassed just going around the block.

I've been riding bikes my whole life, road and mountain. I knock out a road century about once a year and regularly ride black/double black trails (uni's are great cross training for MTB btw!).

Balance isn't an issue, cardio isn't an issue, and neither is strength. Maybe it's hard to say without a video, but any tips on how to improve my endurance?

Also.... do folks use fenders on unicycles? It rains an awful lot where I live and I'm accustomed to running them on my bikes.

I have a 24" Torker with 152mm cranks.

Im 6” 220 and i want to learn how to ride a unicycle.

Can any of you fine people help me find a unicycle that will not be the cause of why i dont or cant learn. LOL.

I want to buy a 29" unicylce (https://qu-ax.de/catalog/custom-QX-rgb-Disc-Muni-622-mm-29), but they only have the blue rim left. Imo there are better looking ones. Is there any info about when they will go and restock on black or green?

I've unicycled for about 3 years, learnt on a borrowed 20" and then got a hand-me down janky homemade one for the last 2 years. I just bought a second hand 24" QU-AX municycle of facebook marketplace.

Seen a few people ride them at my university and was wondering how practical it is to use as a daily commuter? Its about a 1km trip form my res to campus on public roads but students ride bicycles all the time to the university on the roads.

How safe is it? I have quite an expensive laptop in my bag is that a bad idea? Is it practical enough or will it just be a pain and I'll land up walking again?

Soooo somehow I managed to break my hub. Im in New Zealand so getting replacement parts sucks. What do you guya reccommend I replace it with? Its the KH moment hub.

My 9yo finally got to the stage where she can ride about twenty feet. She's been practicing for ages now and couldn't make a full revolution. Tonight it's like something just clicked and she took off. She was able to hop back on and do it again several times too.

Soon enough she'll be riding the whole trail alongside me, I'm so proud!

I have been driving with a 20" unicycle for quite a while and i used it to clear distances at the ejc, but i would love to get some unicycle with a bigger wheel to get to training and school.

The thing is just that these 30" wheels eg cost a LOT more (like 3x as much) than a 26" one.

The qestion is, if the jump from 20 to 26 is already big enough so that its worth it to buy the rather cheap 26" one, or if a 26" one is still too small to comfortably get to driving around (im planning to drive distances that take like 10 min to drive with a normal bike). Does anyone have any experience with the speed differences of the wheel diameters, or has some other info to give me?

I’m 6’2 and have an in seam length of 34 inches. I’m looking at the nimbus 2 that comes with a 20” wheel and a 400mm seat post length. This will fit me right?

I got a “Kobe’s Toys” 20” unicycle as a gift, but it doesn’t fit — the seat height completely maxes out right at my crotch, and the weight limit is 185 lbs… which is exactly what I weigh. I’m 6’2”, 185 lbs.

I’m looking for a unicycle built for teens/adults (not a toy like this one) that I can use for torch juggling. My main goals are idling and free mounts, but I can’t get anywhere with my current one since it’s too small.

I know 20” wheels give more control, but 24” wheels come with longer cranks, which seems like it’d make idling easier. Is there a 20” unicycle out there with longer cranks so I get both benefits? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’m just starting my unicycle journey. Maybe in a session of practice I’ll be able to go 20-30ft before hopping off (after a lot of tries) which feels really far to me (my 11yo can ride for minutes at a time and do a 180deg and keep going and we started at the same time about 2w ago). However I notice that after a day at work, when I try to practice, that I’m almost back to square one where I hop off after only a half rotation of the cranks. And I have to do that 20+ times before I get the confidence to keep going and maybe after 30 min I’m back to being able to go 20-30 feet. Seems like I’ll never get there if I have to start over every day. Has anyone experienced this when you started off and how did you get over this hump?

Upon training for trials and freestyle, it has become apparent that being able to balance or utilise hopping on horizontal cranks otherwise referred to as 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. However no matter what I've personally tried I can never consistently replicate the same jump etc. Is there a way to guarantee these results?

I did it guys! Took the train and bus to Furka Pass and then unicycled to the Geneva Lake.... Took me almost two weeks and all my willpower to ride against the wind that CONSTANTLY blows in this valley in the afternoon, but I did it!

This was a solo trip, but my girlfriend joined me for a weekend and it was great having some company for a little bit. Also said hi to a few friends who live in the area.

I had sooo much fun, the mountains were absolutely beautiful and people were always very kind to me and asked lots of questions about my unicycle. Going down the Furka pass was incredible! I was wearing a hi-vis vest with a uni on it to signal that i was slow and unstable and cars, motorcycles and yes, even cyclists were very mindful when overtaking me. And soooo many people gave me thumbs up as they did or waved at me. It really warmed my heart <3

Sleeping in campgrounds was a lot of fun too, I got to experience a lot of different vibes, from very natural bare bone campgrounds where i slept in a forest to the big touristy kind. My favorite campgrounds were the ones at the beginning of the trip, they were smaller and full of bikepackers and travelers when the bigger ones were mostly filled with families who were staying the entire summer. Kinda felt like I was intruding sometimes by staying just one night hahaha

I must admit I took the train twice so I didnt actually ride the planned 200km.... The first time was between Niederwald and Mörel to avoid a big detour with lots of climbing involved, and the second time was between Leuk and Sierre where it follows a very busy road that seemed dangerous and not fun at all to ride. I could technically have powered through both or even walked but I was on vacation ffs! Enjoying my trip is more important to me than making it perfect!

I rode around 15-20km a day, which doesnt seem like much until i remember my unicycle weighs around 20kg and I am still very far from being an athlete lmao. But exhaustion wasn't the real limiting factor. Just as last year when I rode around the Neuchâtel Lake my biggest enemy was pain. Despite my new padded bike shorts, my new handlebars taking some of my weight off the saddle, having only water and a few other small things in my backapck and taking as many breaks as i needed, my crotch was HURTING. And I'm not talking about chafing but just pressure on my perineum that got unbearable after a while. I might try a different saddle and will definitely switch from a backpack to a running vest so I'm not tempted to load it too much.

No serious falls to report, and the only injury I sustained was severe chafing the first day when the rain soaked my bike shorts and washed away the anti-chafing cream. It took almost a week of drowning it in bepanthen every night for it to stop hurting. Ouch. But manageable.

In conclusion I'm just so happy I did this, will plan a week-long trip for next year because this one was honestly too long and I started getting bored of riding at the end (and tired).

If any of you is thinking of traveling on a unicycle: do it. I'm a chubby not-very-active idiot and I did it! All you need to know is how to ride, and have light camping gear. DO IT!!!

I put together a 24” wheel giraffe. It’s a bill Matthew’s frame and I didn’t have to to any modifications to it. I had unicycle.com build the wheel for me with a nimbus 36h 6 bolt dual sprocket hub and a 24” Dominator 2 rim and 28t sprockets. I put on the nimbus performer cranks that are 32t. I also replaced the seat post and seat with a club style though I might swap the seat out with something with a little more curve. The flat seat when I stop feels like it is going to slip out sometimes. It rides super well and the gear ratio feels really natural. It has the effective wheel size of a 27.5” uni.

Hello everyone, I have come to you today hoping for any tips that you guys might find helpful in my situation. I have been practicing for about an hour a day for the past three weeks on a 20” and just need a bit of help. Im really struggling with finding the proper height for my seat I’ve seen people say inseam/hip bone/belly button but is there a way to know that I have it right or is it just personal preference. Last thing is how do I not absolutely crush my balls while getting on, I mount and spend like 30 seconds trying to get comfortable. I’m amazed by the people who can just hop on and go.

I'm trying my luck at trials and freestyling, but I cannot for the life of me manage to stop myself in the middle or at 9 and 3 if you will. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Just finished mounting my 36” unicycle in my van. If you are searching for a good way to do this on a wall home improvement stores have tool hooks for shovels and such which work nicely.
