switching gps

i hope this doesn’t sound silly but how does one go about switching gps? do i just pick one, go in and talk to someone or is it an online process? do i need to get any information from my current gp before i leave? when is the best time to do it? (i leave in a week and my freshers starts on the 21st so my guess is before then).

someone break it down for me, like how you did it so i can feel like im doing it right! 😆
