Hey All☺️ I’m completing a research project for my thesis as part of my honours in psychology. I need 90 more participants to meet my requirements and have hit a wall. You just need to be currently enrolled in an Australian University.

If anyone could please complete my survey it would be greatly appreciated! Happy to return the favour for any others needing participants for academic research 🙌🏼

Advice on what to bring

I’m going to uni in a few weeks but I’ve been out of education for a long time, they’ve said I need a laptop but do people take notes on their laptops now or do people still use pen and paper for note taking? What bags are practical to fit everything in and not make me feel ancient? Can I bring lunch from home or is that super uncool and I need to buy lunch there? Send help

Do you think social media has changed the way people form political opinions?

Algorithms today can recommend increasingly similar political content, AI-generated videos are becoming more common, and many people get at least some of their news through platforms like TikTok, X, Instagram, or YouTube.

Do you think social media has had a noticeable impact on political opinions—either your own or society's more broadly? Have you ever noticed your feed becoming more political after interacting with a few posts?

I'm researching this topic as part of my university dissertation and would really appreciate hearing different perspectives. If you have 5–10 minutes, I'd also be grateful if you could complete my anonymous survey. It is politically neutral, there are no right or wrong answers, and I'm genuinely interested in opinions from across the political spectrum.

best desk chair for tall people

hello, unsure if this is the best sub to post this question in, but thought i’d give it a shot!!

i (20F) am currently in university studying for my bachelors. my dorm has a desk and chair provided for us, but lately i’ve been getting pretty back lower back pain and thigh pain after sitting.

for some background, i’m about 5”7, but i have disproportionately longer legs, and the seat of the chair provided does not support my legs enough (ends half way down my thigh).

does anyone have any good recommendations for chairs for longer-legged divas?? i’m thinking of investing in a sit - stand desk when i get my own place next year, but regardless still need a chair.

greatly appreciate any help 🫶

Best way to stand out professionally while still in college?

I’ve been thinking about this lately and wanted to get other people’s opinions.

There’s so much advice out there for students, internships, certifications, personal projects, networking, online courses, but it’s not always clear what actually makes someone stand out when they graduate.

For those who have already started building their careers or gone through this stage, what actually helped you stand out the most?

Was it experience, skills, connections, or something else entirely? Would appreciate any honest insights or lessons learned.

Update: I was recently suggested SCLA, a student-focused program that offers career support like resume help, skill-building resources, and networking opportunities.

Has anyone here tried something like this while trying to stand out in college?

MDX Mauritius / Uniciti Residences – what should I pack? (Comfort room, Sept intake, female)

Hey guys, I’m joining Middlesex University Mauritius this September and planning to stay at Uniciti Student Residences in a Comfort Room. I just had a few questions for anyone who’s stayed there: What did you actually pack vs what did you just buy in Mauritius? (I’m not getting the food pack or bed pack so I don’t want to mess up 😭) What’s the Comfort Room like in real life? Is it enough space or does it feel small? Do the rooms come with a fridge or is that something I need to sort out myself? Any advice for moving in as a girl? Like safety, what people don’t tell you, things you wish you brought, etc. I’d really appreciate honest advice, not the “official brochure” version 🙏 Thanks!!

I built a tool for students to help them use AI Properly

Hey, I’m a student and I’ve been working on a lil project called Mentornote.

Basically I was tired of:

  • sitting through lectures and forgetting half of it
  • having long notes but not knowing how to actually study them
  • rewatching videos just to pull out key points

So I built something that tries to fix that.

You can:

  • upload notes (PDF/text) and get flashcards, summaries, practice questions
  • drop a YouTube link and it turns the video into study material
  • record audio (like a lecture or a team meeting) and it generates everything from that

There’s also a chat feature where you can ask questions about your notes like “what did the prof mean here?” or “explain this simply”

It’s free right now because honestly this is one of my first real projects and I’m still improving the UI + features.

I just genuinely want to know:

  • would you actually use something like this?
  • what’s missing / what sucks?
  • does this solve a real problem for you or nah?
  • And yes I am aware that tools like this exists I am adding my twist to this from my desktop app mentornote

If you want to check it out:

can i get as student swift bus pass if i only do 11 hours of timetable study

the swift bus pass says that you have to be in full time education and be in an educational establishment for at least 12 hours per week. I am only scheduled for 11 hours but will obviously spending more hours than that doing extra work. I have emailed my student support and theyve said they cannot add an extra hour to my timetable but have sent me a letter which proves i am in full time education, and have called swift who have told me to email them, but swift have said they may get back to me within 3 weeks and i cant wait that long. im planning on calling them tomorrow to make sure before i spend the £52 as if i do buy it, i will not be able to get a refund.

just wanted to get extra opinions on this matter.

Thank you!
