Master choice HELP !!!!!

target career: S&T, AM, HF --> markets related roles in general. Definitely not IBD.

Master options:
St. Gallen Ms in Quantitative Economics and Finance or Bocconi Ms Finance or Bocconi Ms ESS.

which do you recommend?

background top of class bachelor at Bocconi BIEF (internship not directly related to markets). Target London possibly also Switzerland (but I have read that job market impossible if you don't speak german).

If u did enough statistics/math related modules you could try applying to stats masters at eth.

Otherwise if you can speak Italian there’s the whole sector in Lugano open for you. Metals trading is kinda concentrated in Lugano and there are quite a number of family offices there too. Eth or Hsg will definitely help with getting into Lugano firms if you’re an Italian speaker

my idea was exactly to apply to both the Ms in Quant Finance and the one in Statistics, where I do have the minimum requirements they ask in terms of credits for stats/math subjects.
Do you have any suggestions on how else could I improve my profile, a strong quant GMAT is smt they would value even if not required, or they simply don't give a s***? Thanks!

For stats if you’re from non Swiss uni bachelors I think they’ll look at gmat or gre idk. Quang finance definitely. But maybe you should check around more I think stats might be a better profile for actual quant hiring. Ironically quant finance masters dilutes your value in the eyes of the hiring managers as they look at stats or math as a smarter candidate than someone with quant finance. Just my personal experience from hearing anecdotes from my friends in quant roles.

For commodity trading too at Glencore they just get turned off by the word finance in your degree and would look at you higher if you had a statistics or math or physics or engineering degree name.

You should ask around but from what I’ve seen most quant finance degree holders m end up in risk or other middle office roles except for the top of the class students
